Postal Codes In Namibia
After 28 years without a postal code system in Namibia, the national postal service provider NamPost introduced new postal codes in December 2018. They consist of five digits, where the first two indicate the region, the last two the post office and the third digit is always a 0. Namibia
Namibia, officially the Republic of Namibia, is a country on the west coast of Southern Africa. NamPost is the national postal service of Namibia. It has 743 employees and reserves of N$ 2.51 million. The current CEO of NamPost is Festus Hangula. History The first postal services in then South West Africa started in 1814 with the deployment of messengers facilitating communication between the early mission stations at Warmbad and Bethanie and later to Keetmanshoop and Gross Barmen. This service was expanded in 1846, connecting the South West African mission stations to those in South Africa. The first post office of South West Africa was founded in Otjimbingwe in 1888, with more offices being established in Windhoek in 1891 and Swakopmund in 1895. In 1992, NamPost was founded, managing 92 post offices in Namibia. In 2012, this number had risen to 135. Regions Of Namibia
Namibia uses regions as its first-level subnational administrative divisions. Since 2013, it has 14 regions which in turn are subdivided into Constituencies of Namibia, 121 constituencies. Postal codes were introduced in South Africa on 8 October 1973, with the introduction of automated sorting. Format South African postal codes consist of four digits. Mail may be delivered either to the physical address or to a PO Box, particularly in rural areas where no street delivery is available. In addition, many large organisations may use Private Bag addresses, with mail dispatched to the holder by a mail contractor. In the case of cities and large towns, however, the last two digits of the postal code indicate the mode of delivery. Walvis Bay
Walvis Bay (; ; ) is a city in Namibia and the name of the bay on which it lies. It is the List of cities in Namibia, second largest city in Namibia and the largest coastal city in the country. The city covers an area of of land. The bay is a haven for sea vessels due to its natural deep-water harbour, protected by the Pelican Point sand spit, which is the only natural harbour of any size along the country's coast. Being rich in plankton and marine life, these waters also draw large numbers of southern right whales, attracting whalers and fishing vessels. A succession of colonists developed the location and resources of this strategic harbour settlement. The harbour's value about the sea route around the Cape of Good Hope had caught the attention of world powers since it was discovered by the outside world in 1485.
