The Port of Leith distillery is a distillery in Edinburgh, Scotland, located in the Leith area of the city. It is the first vertical distillery to be built in the United Kingdom. History Port of Leith distillery was founded by Paddy Fletcher and Ian Stirling in 2023. The distillery opened to the public after 4 years of construction but did not start producing new make spirit until early 2024. Leith (; ) is a port area in the north of Edinburgh, Scotland, founded at the mouth of the Water of Leith and is home to the Port of Leith. The earliest surviving historical references are in the royal charter authorising the construction of Holyrood Abbey in 1128 in which it is termed ''Inverlet'' (Inverleith).
