Popular Socialism (Nordic Countries)
Popular socialism or people's socialism (Danish language, Danish: ''Folkesocialisme'') is a distinct socialism, socialist current from the Nordic countries. In that context the term can be said to represent a distinct ideological tendency, originating from Aksel Larsen's split from the Communist Party of Denmark, Communist Party of Denmark in 1956. Larsen founded the Socialist People's Party (Denmark), Socialist People's Party (SF), which placed itself between communism and social democracy. In Norway a similar party, the Socialist People's Party (Norway), Socialist People's Party was formed by an anti-NATO/anti-European Economic Community-split from the Labour Party (Norway), Labour Party and later became the backbone of Socialist Left Party (Norway), Socialist Left Party (SV). Popular socialism (; ; ) is a distinct socialist ideology in Central Europe with the origin in Austria-Hungary. Central European popular socialism represents different positions than popular socialism in Nordic countries, which is known for a larger left-wing emphasis. With its origin in the 1890s, popular socialism in Central Europe is traditionally associated with democratic and classical radical politics, linking liberal socialism with the specific nationalism of each respective country. Popular socialism is traditionally a centre-left political ideology associated with Central Europe. This Central European popular socialism is mainly associated with left-wing nationalism, classical radicalism and liberal socialism.
