Popping
Popping is a street dance adapted out of the earlier Boogaloo (funk dance), boogaloo cultural movement in Oakland, California. As boogaloo spread, it would be referred to as "robottin'" in Richmond, California; strutting movements in San Francisco, California, San Francisco and San Jose, California, San Jose; and the Strikin' dances of the Oak Park, Sacramento, California, Oak Park community in Sacramento, California, Sacramento, which were popular through the mid-1960s to the 1970s.Guzman-Sanchez, T. (2012) Underground Dance Masters: Final History of a Forgotten Era. Praeger. Popping would be eventually adapted from earlier boogaloo (freestyle dance) movements in Fresno, California, in the late 1970s by way of California high school gatherings of track and meet events: the West Coast Relays. The dance is rooted in the rhythms of live Funk, funk music, and is based on the technique of boogaloo's posing approach, quickly contracting and relaxing muscles to cause a jerk, or can be ...

Joint Popping
Joint cracking is the manipulation of joints to produce a sound and related "popping" sensation. It is sometimes performed by physical therapists, chiropractors, and osteopaths pursuing a variety of outcomes. The cracking mechanism and the resulting sound is caused by dissolved gas (nitrogen gas) cavitation bubbles suddenly collapsing inside the joints. This happens when the joint cavity is stretched beyond its normal size. The pressure inside the joint cavity drops and the dissolved gas suddenly comes out of solution and takes gaseous form which makes a distinct popping noise. To be able to crack the same knuckle again requires waiting about 20 minutes before the bubbles dissolve back into the synovial fluid and will be able to form again. It is possible for voluntary joint cracking by an individual to be considered as part of the obsessive–compulsive disorders spectrum. Causes For many decades, the physical mechanism that causes the cracking sound as a result of be ...

Popping (computer Graphics)
In 3D computer graphics, popping refers to an undesirable visual effect that occurs when the transition of a 3D object to a different pre-calculated Level of detail (computer graphics), level of detail (LOD) is abrupt and obvious to the viewer.M. Chover, J. Gumbau, A. Puig-Centelles, O. Ripolles, F. Ramos (June 2009) "Rendering continuous level-of-detail meshes by Masking Strips" ''Graphical Models'' pp.185 The LOD-ing algorithm reduces the Geometry, geometrical complexity of a 3D object the further it is from the viewer and returns that lost complexity as the viewer gets closer to the 3D object, causing it to ''pop'' as it becomes suddenly more detailed. The LOD-ing algorithms can depend on more factors than just distance from the viewer, but it is often the primary factor that is considered. Popping is most obvious when switching between different LODs directly without intermediate steps. Techniques like geomorphing and LOD blending can reduce visual popping significantly by maki ...

Popping Corn
Popcorn (also called popped corn, popcorns, or pop-corn) is a variety of Maize, corn seed, kernel which expands and puffs up when heated. The term also refers to the snack food produced by the expansion. It is one of the oldest snacks, with evidence of popcorn dating back thousands of years in the Americas. It is commonly eaten salted, buttered, sweetened, or with artificial flavorings. A popcorn kernel's strong Hull (botany), hull contains the seed's hard, starchy shell endosperm with 14–20% moisture, which turns to steam as the kernel is heated. Pressure from the steam continues to build until the hull ruptures, allowing the kernel to forcefully expand, to 20 to 50 times its original size, and then cool. Some strain (biology), strains of corn (Taxonomy (biology), taxonomized as ''Zea mays'') are cultivated specifically as popping corns. The ''Zea mays'' variety ''everta'', a special kind of flint corn, is the most common of these. Popcorn is one of six major types of corn ...

Pre-popping
Pre-popping is a method of transferring lead information from one online lead form to another. This method is most commonly used for internet marketing between a publisher and an advertiser in the lead generation industry. User experience The user experience with the pre-popping method is that a user fills out a lead form on a publisher website before he leaves the publisher domain and upon clicking on the 'submit' button he is redirected to the landing page of the advertiser where a similar or a longer form is already populated with the same information he already entered. Benefits {{abbreviations, section, date=May 2012 The benefit of pre-popping to the publisher is that only users who are very interested in the offer are leaving the website so the post click conversion rates are high, so he enjoys higher commissions while allowing more users to stay on his site and make him revenue in other ways. The benefits of pre-popping to the advertiser is that he only gets high value ...

Skin Popping
Skin popping is a route of administration of street drugs where they are injected or deposited under the skin. It is usually a depot injection, either subcutaneous or intradermal, and not an intramuscular injection. After deposition, the drug then diffuses slowly from the depot into the capillary networks, where it enters circulation. Skin popping is distinct from intravenous injection in that the latter deposits the drug directly into the bloodstream via a vein. Nonetheless, it is included with IV injection in the category of injection drug use because both involve injection, both are often done with the same drugs, and both carry many of the same risks (such as bloodborne disease risks, injection site infection risks, and risk of death from overdose). Higher-potency prescription opioids, such as morphine, fentanyl, or meperidine can be injected subcutaneously, as can cocaine. Skin popping increases the duration of the high one gets from drugs such as cocaine. The sites w ...

Slapping And Popping
Slapping and popping are ways to produce percussive sounds on a stringed instrument. They are primarily used on the double bass or bass guitar. Slapping on bass guitar involves using the edge of one's knuckle, where it is particularly bony, to quickly strike the string against the fretboard. On bass guitars, this is commonly done with the thumb, while on double bass, the edge of the hand or index finger may be used. Popping refers to pulling the string away from the fretboard and quickly releasing it so it snaps back against the fretboard. On bass guitar, the two techniques are commonly used together in alternation, though either may be used separately. History On the double bass, the technique was developed by jazz bands in New Orleans in the early 1900s, and later spread to other genres, including western swing, rockabilly, and other offshoots of those styles. On the bass guitar, the technique is widely credited to Larry Graham, an electric bassist playing with Sly and ...
