Pop Melayu
Pop melayu () is a pop rock music genre influenced by rhythms and musical traditions of the Malays of Indonesia, Malaysia, and Singapore, plus their cultural sphere. History The progenitor of this genre is the frequent movement of bangsawan acts between Malaya, Deli (now Medan), Riau Islands and Java which later developed into ''Orkes Melayu'' ("Malay orchestra") starting in the 1930s, their compositions took from Indian and Arabic influences played with Western instruments, while their song lyrics often took from pantun. Malayan- Singaporean cinema was often a huge inspiration, especially from P. Ramlee. In 1960s Singapore, many 'fast guitar groups' (''kumpulan gitar rancak'', abbreviated as ''kugiran'') sprung among the Malay community there influenced by contemporary Western music incorporating similar traditions. Pop rock (also typeset as pop/rock) is a fusion genre and form of rock music characterized by a strong commercial appeal, with more emphasis on professional songwriting and recording craft, and less emphasis on attitude than standard rock music. Originating in the late 1950s as an alternative to normal rock and roll, early pop rock was influenced by the Beat (music), beat, arrangements, and original style of rock and roll (and sometimes doo-wop). Indian pop music, also known as I-pop or Indi-pop, refers to pop music produced in India that is independent from filmi soundtracks for Indian cinema. Radja
Radja is an Indonesian rock band. History Radja was formed in Banjarmasin, Indonesia, on 17 March 1999 and originally consisted of brothers Ian Kasela (vocals) and Moldy Kusnadi (guitar), as well as drummer Adit Taher and bassist Shuma. In their early days, the band performed in exchange for Nasi Bungkus, a humble Indonesian rice dish, at local cafes. Their name is a form of raja, meaning "king". In 2001, the band debuted with ''Lepas Masa Lalu''. Unfortunately, due to their label's failure to properly market the album, it never gained any traction and was overall considered a flop. Shuma and Adit left the band not long after and were replaced with bassist Indra Riwayat and drummer Seno Wilbowo. Their second album, ''Manusia Biasa'', sold only 60,000 copies when it was released in 2003. Kangen Band is a Malay Pop music group from Indonesia which was formed on 4 July 2005 in Bandar Lampung Bandar Lampung ( Lampungese: ''Kutak Bandarlampung''; formerly Dutch: ''Oosthaven'', ) is the capital and largest city of the Indonesian province of Lampung. ST12
ST12 is an Indonesian band formed in Bandung, West Java, in 20 January 2004. The group was formed by Ilham Febry, a.k.a. Pepep (drummer), Dedy Sudrajat, alias Pepeng (guitarist), Charly van Houten, a.k.a. Charly (vocalist), and Iman Rush (guitarist). ST12 stands for ''Jl. Stasiun Timur No. 12'', which was the band's headquarter. As of 2010, ST12 had produced five albums. History ST12 was officially formed on January 20, 2004, although its members had long been in the music world. Earlier, they were not known to each other. They often met in the rental studio on Jl. Stasiun Timur No. 12, near Bandung railway station. The band was named by Pepep's father, Helmi Aziz. Charly liked jazz, Pepep liked jazz and rock, while Pepeng grew up with rock music. Malay Singaporeans () are Singaporeans of Malay ancestry, including those from the Malay Archipelago. They constitute approximately 13.5% of the country's residents, making them the second largest ethnic group in Singapore.
