''Pop'' is the debut studio album from British pop duo and 2007 '' The X Factor'' finalists Same Difference. The album was released on December 1, 2008 by Syco Records. The album debuted at number 22 on the UK Album Chart, on first week sales of 31,064. Background The album was recorded following on from their appearance in ''The X Factor'', and contains both original tracks and cover versions of songs they performed during the show. The cover versions include " Breaking Free" (from the Disney film ''High School Musical''), "Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now" (originally by Starship), " I Need A House" (originally by Marie Serneholt), " Turn It into Love" (originally by Kylie Minogue), "Let Me Be The One" (originally by Six) and "Still Amazed", a retitled version of "The Way it Used to Be", also by Six. Starship (band)
Starship is an American rock band from San Francisco, California. Initially a continuation of Jefferson Starship, it underwent a change in musical direction, the subsequent loss of personnel, and a lawsuit settlement that led to a name change. Starship's 1985 album, '' Knee Deep in the Hoopla'', was certified platinum by the RIAA, and included two singles that went to number one on the US ''Billboard'' Hot 100 chart: " We Built This City" and " Sara". Their follow up album, '' No Protection'', released in 1987, was certified gold and featured the band's third number one single, "Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now". Irish Albums Chart
The Irish Albums Chart is the Irish music industry standard albums popularity chart issued weekly by the Irish Recorded Music Association (IRMA). The charts were previously compiled on behalf of IRMA by Chart-Track, and have been compiled by the Official Charts Company since 2017. Chart rankings are based on sales, which are compiled through over-the-counter retail data captured electronically each day from retailers' Point of sale systems and certain digital retailers. All major record stores and over forty independents submit data for the charts, accounting for over 80% of the market, according to Chart-Track. A new chart is compiled and released to the public by the Irish Recorded Music Association on Friday at noon. Each chart is dated with the "week-ending" date of the previous Thursday (i.e., the day before issue). UK Albums Chart
The Official Albums Chart is a list of albums ranked by physical and digital sales and (from March 2015) audio streaming in the United Kingdom. It was published for the first time on 22 July 1956 and is compiled every week by the Official Charts Company (OCC) on Fridays (previously Sundays). It is broadcast on BBC Radio 1 (top 5) and found on the OCC website as a Top 100 or on UKChartsPlus as a Top 200, with positions continuing until all sales have been tracked in data only available to industry insiders. However, even though number 100 was classed as a hit album (as in the case of The Guinness Book of British Hit Albums) in the 1980s until January 1989, since the compilations were removed this definition was changed to Top 75 with follow-up books such as The Virgin Book of British Hit Albums book only including this data. Six (band)
Six were an Irish pop group who formed on the Irish version of the television programme '' Popstars'' in 2002. The programme aired on RTÉ One on Sunday nights in the autumn and winter of 2001–02. The band were signed to Simon Cowell under BMG Records UK and managed by Louis Walsh who also appeared as a judge on the show. Their first single, " There's a Whole Lot of Loving Going On", is currently the fastest and third-biggest selling single in Irish history. Career Sinéad Sheppard, Emma O'Driscoll, Kyle Anderson, Sarah Keating, Andy Orr and Liam McKenna were the winners of the show who earned a place in Six. "Turn It into Love" is a single released by Australian singer Kylie Minogue. It was taken from her debut studio album '' Kylie'' (1988). The single was released in December 1988 in Japan only. The B-side was a new song "Made in Heaven", which also served as the B-side to both " Je ne sais pas pourquoi" and " It's No Secret" in other international territories. The song, written and produced by Stock Aitken Waterman (SAW), was also released by British singer Hazell Dean the same year, sparking years of speculation about which performer recorded it first. But the track's writer and producer Matt Aitken insists it was written for Minogue, and later given to Dean when it became apparent the Australian singer didn't need another UK single from her debut album. Marie Eleonor Serneholt (; born 11 July 1983) is a Swedish singer and model. She was a member of the Swedish pop band A*Teens from 1998 to 2004, and briefly pursued a solo recording career after the band dissolved.
