Politics of the Ã…land Islands () take place within a parliamentary system of representative democracy. Ã…land is an autonomous, demilitarised, and unilingually Swedish-speaking region of Finland. Executive power is exercised by the LantrÃ¥d (premier), who leads the Government of Ã…land () under the supervision of the Parliament of Ã…land (''Lagting''). Proportional representation (PR) refers to any electoral system under which subgroups of an electorate are reflected proportionately in the elected body.
