Sasson Gabai
Sasson Gabai (or Gabay; he, ששון גבאי; born ) is an Israeli actor. He is the winner of an Ophir Award, Asia Pacific Screen Award (nominated), European Film Awards and Jerusalem Film Festival in 2007 as Best Actor in the highly acclaimed Israeli film ''The Band's Visit''. Biography Gabai was born in 1947 in Baghdad, Iraq, to a Baghdadi Jewish family. During his childhood he immigrated together with his family to Israel. After serving his mandatory military service in the Israel Defense Forces, he studied theater and psychology at the Tel Aviv University. After graduating, he began playing in the Khan Theater in Michael Alfreds group. Hanna Azoulay-Hasfari ( he, חנה אזולאי-הספרי; born June 29, 1960) is an Israeli actress, screenwriter, playwright, film director and a two-time winner of the Ophir Award. She is a women's rights activist, and has dedicated her career promoting awareness regarding social justice issues and cultural diversity. In 2015, she was invited to speak at the United Nations headquarters in New York, in honor of International Women's Day, where she presented a screening of her film ''Orange People,'' in condemnation of child marriage. Early life Azoulay-Hasfari was born on June 29, 1960 in Beersheba, Israel. Both of her parents immigrated to Israel from Morocco. She studied at residential school called “Mae Boyar” in Jerusalem. Shlomo Bar-Shavit ( he, שלמה בר-שביט; December 7, 1928 – September 8, 2019) was an Israeli actor, voice actor and theatre director. Biography Born in Jerusalem, his father was a construction worker and his mother, who was the granddaughter of Shlomo Elyashiv, was a nurse at the Shaare Zedek Medical Center. When Bar-Shavit was four years old, he was abandoned by his parents after they separated and he spent a majority of his childhood in 13 different foster institutions.
