Poland 2050
Szymon Hołownia's Poland 2050 (, PL2050) is a centrist to centre-right political party in Poland. It was founded as a social movement in 2020, shortly after that year's presidential election, and was officially registered as a political party in April 2021. In the years prior to the 2023 Polish parliamentary election, eight MPs defected to Poland 2050 in the Sejm. After its first national electoral test, the party finished in third place. Poland 2050 joined a ruling coalition, with its leader Szymon Hołownia being chosen as Marshal of the Sejm. It is ideologically supportive of environmentalist policies and Christian democratic principles, and it also combines some elements of liberalism, social democracy, conservatism, and patriotism. Voivodeship Sejmik
A voivodeship sejmik (), also known as a provincial or regional assembly, is the regional-level elected legislature for each of the sixteen voivodeships of Poland. Machnikowski et al., p. 21 Sejmiks are elected to five-year terms, decided during nationwide local elections. The size of the legislative assembly varies for each voivodeship depending on the population, ranging from 30 members in lesser populated provinces to 51 members in the most populous one. Elected representatives of an assembly are known as councillors (''radni''). Szymon Franciszek Hołownia (Polish: ; born 3 September 1976) is a Polish politician and television personality currently serving as Marshal of the Sejm of the Republic of Poland, Sejm since 13 November 2023. From 2008 to 2019 he co-hosted ''Mam talent!'', the Polish version of ''Got Talent'', together with Marcin Prokop. Senate Of Poland
The Senate () is the upper house of the Parliament of Poland, Polish parliament, the lower house being the Sejm of the Republic of Poland, Sejm. The history of the Polish Senate stretches back over 500 years; it was one of the first constituent bodies of a bicameral parliament in Europe and existed without hiatus until the final Partitions of Poland, partition of the Polish state in 1795. Hanna Beata Gill-Piątek (née ''Stachowiak''; born 13 April 1974) is a Polish politician, social activist, civil sevant, and columnist. Since 2024, she is a member of the Łódź Voivodeship Sejmik, and from 2019 to 2023, was a member of the Sejm of Poland. She belongs to Civic Platform party, and in the past, was also a member of the Greens, Spring, and Poland 2050. Education and career Hanna Gill-Piątek (née ''Stachowiak'') was born on 12 April 1974 in Łódź, Poland, where she also attended the Nicholas Copernicus 1st General Education High School. Her parents were scientists. 2020 Polish Presidential Election
Presidential elections were held in Poland on 28 June 2020. As no candidate received a majority of the vote, a second round was held on 12 July, in which incumbent president Andrzej Duda, running with the support of the incumbent government of the Law and Justice (Poland), Law and Justice (PiS) party, faced off against Civic Platform vice-chairman and Mayor of Warsaw Rafał Trzaskowski. Since 1989, Poland has had a multi-party system, with numerous competing Political party, political parties. Individual parties normally do not manage to gain power alone, and usually work with other parties to form coalition governments.
