Podemos Perú
Podemos por el Progreso del Perú (), more often known by its shortened name Podemos Perú (, PP), is a conservative political party in Peru. Founded in 2018 by economist and former congressman José Luna Gálvez. For the 2021 general election, Daniel Urresti was nominated by the party for the Presidency. In the election, Urresti placed 9th with 5.6% of the vote. While in the congressional election, the party won five seats, mainly from Lima, Callao and Ica. History The legal officer of the National Office of Electoral Processes, Susana Guerrero, was discharged from the party for irregularities concerning the creation and registration of the party. José Luna
José León Luna Gálvez (born 17 July 1955) is a Peruvian economist and politician originally from the National Solidarity party who later founded the Podemos Perú and was a Congressman representing Lima between 2000 and 2016. He was the Third Vice President of the Congress between 2012 and 2014. Career José Luna was born in Huancavelica, being the eldest of the five children of Juan Luna Peña and Paula Gálvez, a humble couple who emigrated to Lima and settled in the Cantagallo area, to later settle in San Juan de Lurigancho. He holds a Master in Economics and a PhD in Education, both from the Universidad de San Martín de Porres. He is the owner and general manager of ''Telesup'' private distance learning university. Daniel Urresti
Daniel Belizario Urresti Elera (born 25 August 1956) is a Peruvian retired army general and politician who served as Minister of the Interior in the administration of President Ollanta Humala from 2014 to 2015, and as a Congressman representing Lima from 2020 to 2021. He is currently serving a sentence of twelve years in prison for the murder of journalist Hugo Bustíos. Born in northern region of Piura, Urresti enrolled in the Chorrillos Military School, specializing in psychological operations and defense mechanisms. After graduating with a master's degree in electronic engineering from the Federico Villarreal National University, Urresti labored in the telecommunications branch of the Peruvian Army, specializing in telematics. The National Jury of Elections (, JNE) of is an autonomous constitutional organ, headquartered in Lima, which serves as Peru's electoral court. Its goal is to oversee the legality of electoral processes, guaranteeing the respect for the population's will. Thus, it is the entity in charge of proclaiming the official electoral results and awarding recognitions or credentials to the elected authorities.
