Pocket Dialing
Pocket dialing (also known as pocket calling or butt dialing) is the accidental placement of a call on a mobile phone or cordless phone located in a person's pocket or handbag. The recipient of the call typically hears random background noise when answering the phone. If the caller remains unaware, the recipient will sometimes overhear whatever is happening in the caller's vicinity. A pocket-dialed call can continue for many minutes, or until the recipient's voice mail system ends the call. The phrase “Butt Dial” was coined by JP Montemayor in 1988 when he accidentally sat on the IMTS telephone (precursor to cell phones) transceiver in his car, and accidentally dialed a co-worker. The phrase "pocket dial" was added to the ''Oxford English Dictionary'' in August 2015. Clamshell design is a form factor commonly used in the design of electronic devices and other manufactured objects. It is inspired by the morphology of the clam. The form factor has been applied to handheld game consoles, mobile phones (where it is often called a "flip phone"), and especially laptop computers. Clamshell devices are usually made of two sections connected by a hinge, each section containing either a flat panel display or an alphanumeric keyboard/ keypad, which can fold into contact together like a bivalve shell. Soft Key
A soft key is a button flexibly programmable to invoke any of a number of functions rather than being associated with a single fixed function or a fixed set of functions. A softkey often takes the form of a screen-labeled function key located alongside a display device, where the button invokes a function described by the text at that moment shown adjacent to the button on the display. Speed dial was a function available on many telephone systems allowing the user to place a call by pressing a reduced number of keys. This function was particularly useful for phone users who dial certain numbers on a regular basis. In most cases, the user stores these numbers in the phone's memory for future use. The speed dial numbers were usually accessed by pressing a predetermined key or keys on the phone, followed by a one or two-digit code which the user assigned to each number; however, for ease of use, on many systems a call may be placed by pressing and holding one key on the numeric keypad. 000 or Triple Zero is the primary national emergency telephone number in Australia and the Australian External Territories. Triple Zero calls are initially answered by Telstra, then transferred to state and territory emergency services organisations.
