Pleasures Of Paris
''Pleasures of Paris'' (French: ''Plaisirs de Paris'') is a 1952 French-West German musical comedy film directed by Ralph Baum and starring Lucien Baroux, Jean Parédès and Geneviève Page.Rège p.66 It was shot at the Billancourt Studios in Paris and on location around the city. The film's sets were designed by the art directors Jean d'Eaubonne and Georges Wakhévitch. A separate German-language version ''Beautiful Night'' (German: ''Traumschöne Nacht'') was also produced. Synopsis A young composer has written a new revue but struggles to get it performed. He meets a famous music hall performer but mistakes her for a flower girl. A revue is a type of multi-act popular theatre, theatrical entertainment that combines music, dance, and sketch comedy, sketches. The revue has its roots in 19th century popular entertainment and melodrama but grew into a substantial cultural presence of its own during its golden years from 1916 to 1932. Though most famous for their visual spectacle, revues frequently satirized contemporary figures, news or literature. Similar to the related subforms of operetta and musical theatre, the revue art form brings together music, dance and sketches to create a compelling show. Rudolf Platte
Rudolf Antonius Heinrich Platte (12 February 1904 – 18 December 1984) was a German actor. Biography Born in Hörde, Westphalia (today part of Dortmund) the son of a merchant, his family moved to Hildesheim three years later. Rudolf left school at the age of 16 to take acting lessons, making his debut in 1925 as Shylock in Shakespeare's ''The Merchant of Venice'' in Düsseldorf. Two years later he moved to Berlin, where he together with Werner Finck and Hans Deppe founded the cabaret '' Die Katakombe''. From 1929 onward, Platte performed in more than 200 film roles, embodying the shy and underestimated, likeable "Little Man". In 1940 he succeeded Ralph Arthur Roberts as director of the Theater in der Behrenstraße in Berlin (right beside the present-day Komische Oper) until its final closure in 1944. Roland Alexandre (6 November 1927 – 1 February 1956) was a French stage and film actor. Having established himself at the Comédie-Française, he appeared in eleven films before his early death by suicide.
