Player's International Canadian Open
The Canadian Open (; also known as the Canada Masters, and currently branded as the National Bank Open presented by Rogers for sponsorship reasons) is an annual professional tennis tournament held in Ontario and Quebec, Canada. It is played on outdoor hardcourts. The men's competition is an ATP Masters 1000 event on the ATP Tour, and the women's competition is a WTA 1000 event on the WTA Tour. It is the second-oldest active tennis tournament in the world, with Wimbledon the oldest. Prior to 2011, the two competitions were held during separate weeks in the July–August period; now the two competitions are held during the same week in August. The events alternate each year between the cities of Montreal and Toronto. Since 2021, in even-numbered years the men's tournament is held in Montreal while the women's tournament is held in Toronto, and vice versa in odd-numbered years. The Toronto Lawn Tennis Club is a private social and athletic club in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The club is the oldest active and surviving lawn tennis club in the world. Founded in 1876, it has a long history of tennis competition. It is located at 44 Price Street, in the affluent Rosedale neighbourhood of Toronto. The club hosted the first ever National Tennis Championship of Canada and has hosted 2 Davis Cup ties. The actual courts were established at 148 Front Street in Toronto in 1874 by I.F. Hellmuth, two years before the club was formed in 1876. The club played host to a tournament in 1881 (for gentlemen's singles) that over time became the Canadian Open tennis championship, now known as the National Bank Open. Rexall was a chain of American drugstores, and the name of their store-branded products. The stores, having roots in the federation of United Drug Stores starting in 1903, licensed the Rexall brand name to as many as 12,000 drug stores across the United States from 1920 to 1977. The " Rex" in the name was derived from the name of Ellen M. Regis—"Regis" being Latin for "of the king"—who developed "Rexall remedies" and from whom the company purchased the mark. Founding In 1903, Louis K. Liggett persuaded 40 independent drug stores to invest $4,000 (~$ in ) in a retailers' cooperative called United Drug Stores, which sold products under the Rexall name. Bianca Vanessa Andreescu (; born June 16, 2000) is a Canadian professional tennis player. She has been WTA rankings, ranked world No. 4 in women's singles by the Women's Tennis Association, WTA. Robert Bédard (tennis)
Robert Bédard (born 13 September 1931) is a former Canadian tennis player and educator. He is the most recent Canadian winner of the men's Canadian Open Tennis Championships. Bédard won three Canadian Open singles titles in 1955 (over Henri Rochon in the final), 1957 (over Ramanathan Krishnan in the final) and 1958 (over Whitney Reed in the final). Bédard won a record seven Quebec Open singles championships and two Ontario Open singles titles. Bédard won the ILTF Sutton Hard Courts or ILTF Surrey Hard Court Championships on clay at Sutton, England in 1957. The WTA Tour (also known as the Hologic WTA Tour for sponsorship reasons) is a worldwide top-tier tennis tour for women and organized by the Women's Tennis Association.
