Platino Award For Best Supporting Actress
The Platino Award for Best Supporting Actress (Spanish: ''Premio Platino a la mejor actriz de reparto/Premio Platino a la mejor interpretación femenina de reparto'') is one of the Platino Awards, Ibero-America's film awards presented annually by the Entidad de Gestión de Derechos de los Productores Audiovisuales (EGEDA) an the Federación Iberoamericana de Productores Cinematográficos y Audiovisuales (FIPCA). It was first presented in 2021, with Spanish actress Nathalie Poza being the first recipient, for her role as Violeta in ''Rosa's Wedding''. Prior to that, supporting female performances were included in the Best Actress category. No actress has won the award for than once. Plus, no actress has received more than one nomination in the category. As of 2023, all three winners have been Spanish actresses in Spanish productions. Platino Awards
The Platino Awards, known in Spanish as Premios Platino del Cine Iberoamericano ("Platinum Prizes of Ibero-American Cinema"), are Ibero-America's annual film awards. The awards were established in 2013, and the first awards ceremony took place on 5 April 2014 at the Teatro Anayasi, Panama City. The ceremony continues to take place annually between April and July, and awards are given to films produced during the previous year. The award itself is a platinum figure with the shape of a woman offering the world with Latin America's map on the center, it was created by designer Javier Mariscal. 9th Platino Awards
The 9th Platino Awards ceremony, organised by EGEDA and FIPCA, was held on 1 May 2022 at the IFEMA Palacio Municipal in Madrid, Spain. The ceremony was hosted by Lali Espósito and Miguel Ángel Muñoz. Background In February 2022, Madrid was disclosed to be the venue of the awards, returning to the Spanish capital after the 8th edition celebrated in October 2021. Soon after, the organizing committee published the 206 pre-selections, to be cut to a shortlist of 20 candidates per category and then to the final 4 nominations for each of the 22 categories of the awards. Regarding the film area, Spain scooped 9% of pre-selections, followed by Argentina, Mexico, Peru, Portugal and Uruguay (all grossing a 6%).
