Planned Tram Projects In Helsinki
The city of Helsinki and the neighbouring city of Vantaa have plans for a radical expansion of the Helsinki tram network within the 2020s and 2030s that would more than double the length of the network from 2021. If completed, the plans would both extend the current tram lines and build new light rail lines. Projects under construction Laajasalo The city council of Helsinki decided on 31 August 2016 to build a tramway to the island of Laajasalo, located to the east of Helsinki city centre. The route will include three new bridges, the longest of which will be the longest in Finland at , and its pylons one of the tallest structures in Helsinki. Aleksanterinkatu (; "Alexander Street") is a street in Kluuvi, the commercial centre of Helsinki, Finland. The Olympia Terminal (, ) is a dock in the South Harbour of Helsinki, Finland. It was designed by the Hytönen- Luukkonen architects bureau and opened for the 1952 Summer Olympics. Vallila () is a Subdivisions of Helsinki#Neighbourhoods, neighbourhood in Helsinki, the capital of Finland. Vallila is a central-northern neighbourhood, bordered by Pasila to the west and Alppiharju to the south. Like Kallio, Vallila is mostly residential and has a reputation of being a working-class neighbourhood. In the past two decades people from artistic professions have found the area. Sörnäinen Metro Station
Sörnäinen metro station (, ) is a station on the Helsinki Metro. It serves the central Helsinki districts of Sörnäinen and Kallio. Sörnäinen is the easternmost station on the system to be located underground. The station was opened on 1 September 1984 and was designed by Jouko Kontio and Seppo Kilpiä. It is located 900 meters from Hakaniemi metro station, and 1.1 kilometers from Kalasatama metro station. Helsinginkatu (Swedish language, Swedish: ''Helsingegatan'', literally meaning "Helsinki street"; also called "Hesari" in Helsinki slang, which is also used as a nickname for ''Helsingin Sanomat'') is a two-kilometre-long east-west-running street in Helsinki, Finland. The street runs from Hämeentie to Mannerheimintie. The street separates the districts of Kallio and Alppiharju, and the part west to the railway underpass belongs to Taka-Töölö. Bulevardi (, Boulevard) is a boulevard in Helsinki, Finland. It starts at Erottaja and ends at Hietalahdentori. Käpylä (; ) is a neighbourhood of Helsinki with 7,600 inhabitants. Administratively speaking, Käpylä is a part of the Vanhakaupunki district. It is located between Kumpula, Oulunkylä and Koskela. Käpylä has a terminus for route-1 of the Helsinki tram network.
