Plai Phraya District
Plai Phraya ( th, ปลายพระยา, ) is a district (''amphoe'') in Krabi province, Thailand. Geography Neighboring districts are (from the north clockwise): Phanom district, Phanom, Phrasaeng district, Phrasaeng, Chai Buri district, Chai Buri (all Surat Thani province); Khao Phanom district, Khao Phanom and Ao Luek district, Ao Luek of Krabi Province; and Thap Put district, Thap Put of Phang Nga province. Khlong Phraya Wildlife Sanctuary is on the Surat Thani Province border. History The minor district (''king amphoe'') Plai Phraya was created on 15 June 1973, when the three ''tambons'', Plai Phraya, Khao Khen, and Khao To, were split off from Ao Luek district. Chai Buri District
Chai Buri ( th, ชัยบุรี, ) is a district (''amphoe'') of Surat Thani province, Thailand. Geography The district is in the south of the province. The main river is the Khlong Thorom, which crosses the district from south to north. Neighboring districts are: Phrasaeng district, Phrasaeng to the north and east; to the south, Khao Phanom district, Khao Phanom, and Plai Phraya district, Plai Phraya of Krabi province to the west. At the boundary to Plai Phraya is the Khlong Phraya Wildlife Sanctuary. History On 5 June 1981 the minor district (''king amphoe'') Chai Buri was created by splitting off ''tambons'' Song Phraek and Chai Buri from the Phrasaeng District. The name was chosen in honor of Khun Chai Buri, the first district officer of Phrasaeng. Thesaban Tambon
Thesaban ( th, เทศบาล, , ) are the municipalities of Thailand. There are three levels of municipalities: city, town, and sub-district. Bangkok and Pattaya are special municipal entities not included in the ''thesaban'' system. The municipalities assume some of the responsibilities which are assigned to the districts ('' amphoe'') or communes (''tambon'') for non-municipal (rural) areas. Muban
Muban ( th, หมู่บ้าน; , ) is the lowest administrative sub-division of Thailand. Usually translated as 'village' and sometimes as ' hamlet', they are a subdivision of a tambon (subdistrict). , there were 74,944 administrative mubans in Thailand. As of the 1990 census, the average village consisted of 144 households or 746 persons. ''Tambon'' ( th, ตำบล, ) is a local governmental unit in Thailand. King Amphoe
An amphoe (sometimes also ''amphur'', th, อำเภอ, )—usually translated as "district"—is the second level administrative subdivision of Thailand. Groups of ''amphoe'' or districts make up the provinces, and are analogous to counties. The chief district officer is ''Nai Amphoe'' (). ''Amphoe'' are divided into ''tambons'', ( th, ตำบล), or sub-districts. Altogether Thailand has 928 districts, including the 50 districts of Bangkok, which are called '' khet'' (เขต) since the Bangkok administrative reform of 1972. The number of districts in provinces varies, from only three in the smallest provinces, up to the 50 urban districts of Bangkok. Also the sizes and population of districts differ greatly. Khlong Phraya Wildlife Sanctuary
Khlong Phraya ( th, คลองพระยา) is a wildlife sanctuary in southern Thailand, at the boundary of Surat Thani and Krabi Provinces. It covers an area of 153.6 km² (95,988 rai) of the districts Plai Phraya, Phrasaeng, and Chai Buri. The terrain is mostly mountainous and covered with dense forests, but also some grassland. Thap Put District
Thap Phut ( th, ทับปุด, ) is a district (''amphoe'') in Phang Nga province in the south of Thailand. History In 1785 Burmese troops attacked ''Mueang'' Thalang. The inhabitants escaped from Thalang to the area of modern-day Thap Put. They built shelters that in the southern Thai language are called ''thap''. The shelters were covered by tree leaves which are called ''put''. The district was established in 1897 as one of the original districts of Phang Nga Province.
