Plagiomnium Yunnanense
''Plagiomnium'' is a genus of mosses in the family Mniaceae. It was formerly a part of a more encompassing genus '' Mnium'' and in 1968 Finnish bryologist Timo Juhani Koponen justified splitting the genus into a number of smaller genera. Description This genus is characterized by singly placed marginal teeth. ''Plagiomnium'' are commonly found along shaded stream banks, seeps and springs, generally on soil with a high humus content. Species The genus ''Plagiomnium'' contains the following species: *'' Plagiomnium acutum'' *''Plagiomnium affine'' *''Plagiomnium arbuscula'' *'' Plagiomnium ciliare'' *'' Plagiomnium confertidens'' *'' Plagiomnium cordatum'' *'' Plagiomnium curvatulum'' *'' Plagiomnium cuspidatum'' *''Plagiomnium decursivum'' *''Plagiomnium drummondii'' *'' Plagiomnium elatum'' *'' Plagiomnium elimbatum'' *''Plagiomnium ellipticum'' *''Plagiomnium floridanum'' *''Plagiomnium guizhouense'' *''Plagiomnium himalayanum'' *''Plagiomnium insigne'' *' ... Plagiomnium Insigne
''Plagiomnium insigne'', commonly known as badge moss or coastal leafy moss, is a species of moss endemic to western North America. Distribution and habitat ''Plagiomnium insigne'' is found only in western North America, ranging from south-eastern Alaska in the north to central California in the south and as far east as western Montana. In Canada it occurs in the provinces of Alberta and British Columbia, while in the United States it can be found in the states of Alaska, California, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, Washington (state), Washington, and Wyoming. It is occurs from sea level to the subalpine zone, and typically grows in shaded areas on humus and soil or on rotten logs. It can be found in forests (particularly redwood forests), swamp, swampy areas, and urban areas such as lawns. Description The plants are large and showy, usually between high. They have wide-spreading, glistening leaves when moist that become shrivelled and dull when dry. The fertile plants are Gonochorism, u ... Plagiomnium Medium
''Plagiomnium medium'', commonly known as Alpine thyme-moss or intermediate plagiomnium moss, is a moss found in montane habitats in the Northern Hemisphere. Research published in 1988 showed that is a hybrid of '' P. ellipticum'' and '' P. insigne'' via an allopolyploid process, previously considered to be absent in bryophyte evolution.Wyatt, Robert ''et al.'' (1988"Allopolyploidy in bryophytes: Multiple origins of Plagiomnium medium"PNAS 85 pp. 5601-04. Retrieved 5 July 2008. In the UK it is classified as near threatened. More than 10% of all UK populations occur in the Cairngorms National Park in Scotland including sites in the Lairig Ghru and on the plateau of Lochnagar Lochnagar or is a mountain in the Mounth, in the Grampian Mountains, Grampians of Scotland.
