Piet De Wit
Piet de Wit (born 6 March 1946) is a retired cyclist from the Netherlands who won the Amateur UCI Motor-paced World Championships in 1966 and 1967.His sporting career began with DTS Zaandam. He then moved into the professionals category and won another three medals in 1968, 1970 and 1973. He was raised with three sisters in a biking family – his parents worked for a bicycle company. After retiring from active competitions in 1974, he established a family-run bicycle shop in his native Wormer Wormer is a town in the Dutch province of North Holland. Wormer
Wormer is a town in the Dutch province of North Holland. It is a part of the municipality of Wormerland, and lies about 13 km northwest of Amsterdam. The town is situated in the Zaan district, on the eastern side of the river Zaan, across from Wormerveer. The town is surrounded by the nature area Wormer- en Jisperveld. The village of Oostknollendam, the polder Schaalsmeer (reclaimed in 1631), the polder Enge Wormer (reclaimed in 1634) and a part of the Markerpolder also historically belong to the area of Wormer. Motor-paced racing and motor-paced cycling refer to cycling behind a pacer in a car or more usually on a motorcycle. The cyclist (or stayer in this case) follows as close as they can to benefit from the slipstream of their pacer.
