Phthanophaneron Harveyi
''Phthanophaneron harveyi'', the Gulf flashlightfish, is a species of saltwater fish of the family Anomalopidae. It is endemic to the Gulf of California. This cryptic fish is the only known member of the genus ''Phthanophaneron''. It was first reported in the Pacific Ocean in 1976 and is extremely rare. Taxonomy Its genus name comes from Greek: "phthano" meaning "to arrive the first", and "phaneros" meaning "visible." It was named "harveyi" after American zoologist and leading bioluminescence authority Edmund Newton Harvey. It was originally classified as a species of '' Kryptophanaron'' along with the Atlantic flashlightfish, but was later moved to its own genus. Richard Heinrich Rosenblatt
Richard Heinrich Rosenblatt (December 21, 1930 – October 14, 2014) was an American Ichthyology, ichthyologogist. Rosenblatt was born in Kansas City, Missouri, Kansas City, Missouri in 1930, and died in San Diego, California in 2014. Rosenblatt was awarded the Frederick H. Stoye Award for undergraduate students in ichthyology by the American Society of Ichthyologists and Herpetologists in 1956 and 1957. He held three degrees from the University of California, Los Angeles, receiving his BA in 1953, his MA in 1954, and his PhD in 1959. Rosenblatt proposed in his unpublished dissertation what is now the genus name for the Largemouth triplefin, ''Ucla'', after the initials of the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).
