Peñas is a location in the La Paz Department in Bolivia. Gulf Of Penas
The Gulf of Penas (''Golfo de Penas'' in Spanish, meaning "gulf of distress") is a body of water located south of the Taitao Peninsula, Chile. Geography It is open to the westerly storms of the Pacific Ocean, but it affords entrance to several natural harbours. Among these are the gulfs of Tres Montes and San Esteban and San Quintín, and Tarn Bay at the entrance to Messier Channel. To the south of the gulf lies Guayaneco Archipelago and to the east lies San Javier Island and then the mainland. History Spanish explorers and Jesuits, sailing south from Chiloé Archipelago in the 17th and 18th centuries, regularly avoided rounding the Taitao Peninsula by entering the Gulf, after a brief land crossing at the isthmus of Ofqui. In 1741, the British warship ran aground along the coast of (future) Wager Island, in the southeastern region of the Gulf, while attempting to tack from a lee shore during a storm. Cerro Peñas Azules is a peak in Argentina with an elevation of metres. Peñas Azules is within the following mountain ranges: Argentine Andes and Puna de Atacama. It is located within the territory of the Argentinean province of La Rioja. Its slopes are within the administrative boundaries of the Argentinean city of Vinchina. First Ascent Peñas Azules was first climbed by Vicente Cichitti, Jorge Guajardo and Hermann Klark (Argentina) March 11th 1955. Ánxeles Penas García (born 5 May 1943 in Teixeiro, Curtis, Spain) is a Spanish poet, first in Spanish and, since 1982, in Galician. She has also participated in more than 50 exhibitions as a sculptor and painter. Oscar Peñas Cambray (born August 13, 1972) is a jazz bandleader and composer-guitarist. He has been living in New York since 2007. Biography Oscar Peñas is a composer and guitarist born in Barcelona, Spain. He is known for leading small ensembles, composing, and organic fingerpicking. Peñas began his musical journey at eight, receiving training in classical guitar. He later attended the Taller de Músics and swapped to jazz while studying law at seventeen.
