Petrol (1994 Single)
"Petrol" is a song by Northern Irish rock band Ash (band), Ash, released as the second single from their 1994 mini-album, ''Trailer (album), Trailer'', and as their first single on Infectious Records. It was released on 15 August 1994 on CD single, CD and 7-inch single, 7-inch vinyl format. Only 500 copies of the 7-inch format were released and came with a numbered picture sleeve. The song reached number 96 on the UK Singles Chart in 1994, becoming their first single to reach the UK top 100. "Petrol" was first recorded on the "Garage Girl" demo tape and later appeared on Ash's debut live album, ''Live at the Wireless (Ash album), Live at the Wireless'', and again on Ash's first greatest hits collection, "Intergalactic Sonic 7″s". The song is said to be about being "lynched" by a gang. B-sides B-side "The Little Pond" first appeared on the "Garage Girl" demo-tape. Turkey In The Eurovision Song Contest 1980
Turkey was represented at the Eurovision Song Contest 1980 with the song "", composed by Attila Özdemiroğlu, with lyrics by Şanar Yurdatapan, and performed by Ajda Pekkan. The Turkish participating broadcaster, the Turkish Radio and Television Corporation (TRT), selected its entry through a national final, after having previously selected the performer internally. Before Eurovision The Turkish Radio and Television Corporation (TRT) held the national final on 24 February 1980 at its studios in Ankara, hosted by Bülend Özveren. All songs were performed by Ajda Pekkan and the winning song was determined by an expert jury in two rounds. In the first round, the lowest-scoring song was eliminated. Ash are a Northern Irish rock band formed in Downpatrick, County Down in 1992 by vocalist and guitarist Tim Wheeler, bassist Mark Hamilton and drummer Rick McMurray. ''Intergalactic Sonic 7″s'' is a singles collection, released by punk-influenced band Ash on 9 September 2002. It is available in two formats, with and without the bonus disc, ''Cosmic Debris''. These are both available on CD and vinyl. It was released to celebrate Ash's tenth anniversary and collected the band's eighteen singles along with "Envy" a new song recorded specifically for the compilation. The American mixes of " Burn Baby Burn" " Jesus Says" and " Wildsurf" are included instead of their original mixes and a shorter edit of " Shining Light is included in place of the version featured on '' Free All Angels''. It peaked at number three in the UK album charts. The album features artwork by comic artist Pat Lee. It was also certified Gold by the BPI on October 4, 2002. In music, a single is a type of release of a song recording of fewer tracks than an album ( LP), typically one or two tracks. A single can be released for sale to the public in a variety of physical or digital formats. A CD single is a single (music), music single in the form of a compact disc (CD).
