Hotel Petersberg
The Hotel Petersberg is a hotel and official guest house of Germany, termed the "Bundesgästehaus" (the official title being ''Gästehaus der Verfassungsorgane der Bundesrepublik Deutschland''). It is located on the Petersberg (Siebengebirge), Petersberg, a prominent mountain of the Siebengebirge near Bonn, Germany. With a height of , it overlooks the cities of Königswinter, on the right bank of the Rhine river, and Bonn on the opposite side. History In 1834 the area was sold to the merchant Joseph Ludwig Mertens. His wife Sibylle Mertens-Schaafhausen built a summer residence on the Petersberg, and became known as the ''Rheingräfin'' ("countess of the Rhine"). At the end of the 19th century the Nelles brothers from Cologne had bought the area and started to add buildings. In 1892 they opened up the eponymous hotel that could easily be reached via the newly built ''Petersbergbahn'', a rack railway that continued in intermittent operation until 1958. Deutschnofen (; ) is a ''comune'' (municipality) in the province of South Tyrol in northern Italy, located about southeast of the city of Bolzano. Deutschnofen borders the following municipalities: Aldein, Bolzano, Bronzolo, Karneid, Laives, Welschnofen, and municipalities of Predazzo, Tesero and Varena in Trentino. The municipality of Deutschnofen contains the ''frazioni'' (subdivisions, mainly villages and hamlets) Petersberg (Italian: ''Monte San Pietro''), Eggen (Italian: ''San Nicolò d'Ega''), Rauth (''Novale'') and Obereggen, a small tourist village located on the foot of the Latemar, with some 900 inhabitants. Heisterbach Abbey (Kloster Heisterbach; also Petersthal, formerly Petersberg) was a Cistercian monastery in the ''Siebengebirge'' near Oberdollendorf in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. Petersberg, Halle
The Petersberg (), at , is the highest point in the district of Saalekreis in the German state of Saxony-Anhalt. Its name is derived from St. Peter's Church, which is on the hill. Until the 14th century the Petersberg was known as the Lauterberg. Geography The Petersberg is located about 10 kilometres north of the German city of Halle on the River Saale not quite halfway between Halle and Köthen. The municipality of Petersberg with its hamlets of Drehlitz and Frößnitz lie on the hill. At the foot of the hill are the villages of Ostrau and Wallwitz as well as three small nature reserves. On the southern slopes of the hill is a small lake. A stretch of the A 14 motorway runs past the Petersberg to the west and south, and the B 6 federal highway runs by to the southwest. Petersberg Agreement
The Petersberg Agreement is an international treaty that extended the rights of the government of West Germany vis-a-vis the occupying forces of the United Kingdom, France, and the United States. It is viewed as the first major step of West Germany towards sovereignty. It was signed by West German Chancellor Konrad Adenauer and Allied High Commissioners Brian Hubert Robertson (United Kingdom), André François-Poncet (France), and John J. McCloy (United States) on 22 November 1949. The Hotel Petersberg, near Bonn, was the seat of the High Commissioners and the place of signature. The agreement was the first modification of the Occupation Statute.
