Peter Von Mendelssohn
Peter von Mendelssohn (1908–1982) was a German writer and historian. Of Jewish heritage he was forced to leave Germany following the Nazi Party's rise to power in 1933. He became a prominent member of the exile community, along with figures such as Thomas Mann.Zuhlsdorff p.xiii In 1936 settled in Britain where he became a naturalised subject. His 1932 novel ''Schmerzliches Arkadien'' was adapted into a 1955 film ''Marianne of My Youth''. After the Second World War he served as a press officer with the Allied Control Council in Düsseldorf. He subsequently returned to live in Munich in 1970, where he died twelve years later. Allied Control Council
The Allied Control Council or Allied Control Authority (german: Alliierter Kontrollrat) and also referred to as the Four Powers (), was the governing body of the Allied Occupation Zones in Germany and Allied-occupied Austria after the end of World War II. Its members were the Soviet Union, the United Kingdom, the United States and France. The organisation was based in Berlin-Schöneberg.
