Peter Lee (bishop Of Virginia)
Peter James Lee (11 May 1938 - 2 July 2022) was an American bishop of the Episcopal Church. Ministry Lee, a former newspaper reporter, was ordained deacon in 1967 and priest in 1968. He served as deacon at St John's Cathedral in Jacksonville, Florida, from 1967 till 1968, and then as assistant minister at St John's Church in Washington, D.C., till 1971. He served as Rector at the Chapel of the Cross ( Chapel Hill, North Carolina) from 1971 to 1984. Elected Coadjutor Bishop in the Diocese of Virginia, the largest Episcopal diocese in the country, Lee was consecrated and served from 1984 to 1985, until the sudden death of Bishop Robert Bruce Hall. Lee then served as bishop from 1985 until his own retirement in 2009, having Shannon Sherwood Johnston as Coadjutor Bishop in his final years. Peterlee
Peterlee is a town in County Durham, England. It is located south of Sunderland, north of Hartlepool, west of the Durham Coast and east of Durham. It gained town status in 1948 under the New Towns Act 1946 ( 9 & 10 Geo. 6. c. 68). The act also created the nearby settlement of Newton Aycliffe and later Washington, Tyne and Wear. History The case for founding Peterlee was put forward in ''Farewell Squalor'' by Easington Rural District Council Surveyor C. W. Clarke, who also proposed that the town be named after celebrated Durham miners' leader Peter Lee. It is one of the few places in the British Isles named after a recent individual, and unique among post-Second World War new towns in having its existence requested by local people through their MP. Peter Lee (1864–1935) was a miner's leader, county councillor and Methodist local preacher, born in Trimdon Grange, County Durham. He started working in a colliery at the age of ten. He became the chairman of England's first Labour county council at Durham in 1919. He also served as general secretary and then president of the MFGB. The new town of Peterlee was named after him. Peter John Lee (born January 2, 1956) is an English-born Canadian professional ice hockey manager and former professional ice hockey player. He played 431 National Hockey League games with the Pittsburgh Penguins. Lee has been serving as CEO of Eisbären Berlin of Germany's Deutsche Eishockey Liga since 2005. Early life Lee was born in Ellesmere, England, United Kingdom, and raised in Arvida, Quebec. As a youth, he learned to skate on the outdoor surface of Arvida's Powell Park, and later played for that town's Pee-Wee Orioles minor ice hockey. Peter John Lee (born 5 June 1947) is a retired South African Anglican bishop. He was bishop of the Diocese of Christ the King, Johannesburg. Educated at Gresham's School, Holt, Norfolk, the Hotchkiss School in Connecticut and St. John's College, Cambridge, Lee was ordained in the Church of England and has worked in South Africa since 1976. Lee worked with Archbishop Desmond Tutu as canon missioner of the Anglican diocese of Johannesburg before being elected as bishop of the new Diocese of Christ the King. He retired in June 2016. The electoral college whose job it was to elect a successor failed to do so. The synod of bishops of the Anglican Church of Southern Africa appointed a successor at their meeting in 2016.
