Peter Edward Cook (17 November 1937 – 9 January 1995) was an English comedian, actor, satirist, playwright and screenwriter. He was the leading figure of the British satire boom of the 1960s, and he was associated with the anti-establishment comedic movement that emerged in the United Kingdom in the late 1950s. Born in Torquay, he was educated at the University of Cambridge. There he became involved with the Footlights, Footlights Club, of which he later became president. After graduating, he created the comedy stage revue ''Beyond the Fringe'', beginning a long-running partnership with Dudley Moore. In 1961, Cook opened the comedy club The Establishment (club), The Establishment in Soho. In 1965, Cook and Moore began a television career, beginning with ''Not Only... But Also''. Cook's deadpan monologues contrasted with Moore's buffoonery. They received the 1966 British Academy Television Award for Best Entertainment Performance. Professor Sir Peter Cook (born 22 October 1936) is an English architecture, architect, lecturer and writer on architectural subjects. He was a founder of Archigram, and was knighted in 2007 by Elizabeth II for his services to architecture and teaching. He is also a Royal Academy, Royal Academician and a Commandeur de l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres of the French Republic. His achievements with Archigram were recognised by the Royal Institute of British Architects in 2004, when the group was awarded the Royal Gold Medal. Early life and education Cook was born in Southend-on-Sea, Essex and studied architecture at Arts University Bournemouth, Bournemouth College of Art from 1953–58. Peter Francis Salmon Cook (8 November 19433 December 2005) was an Australian politician. He served as a Labor member of the Senate from 1983 to 2005, representing the state of Western Australia. Career Cook was born in Melbourne, Victoria, and was an active trade unionist before entering politics. He was Secretary of the Western Australian Trades and Labour Council 1975–83 and vice-president of the Australian Council of Trade Unions 1981–83. He was also a member of the Labor Party's National Executive. Peter William Cook (born 8 January 1943) is an English former international rugby union player. Cook was born in High Wycombe and attended Dulwich College. A Surrey-based civil engineer, Cook played rugby for Richmond and in 1965 won an England call up for the Five Nations Championship, taking Colin Simpson's place on the left wing following their loss to Wales.
