Pete Donnelly (ice Hockey)
Peter George Donnelly (born June 14, 1948) is an American retired professional ice hockey goaltender. He played professionally for several teams including the New York Raiders, Quebec Nordiques and Vancouver Blazers of the World Hockey Association (WHA). Early life Donnelly was born in Detroit. He played junior hockey with the Quebec A's, Ottawa 67's, and Kitchener Rangers. Career Donnelly joined the Quebec Aces of the American Hockey League (AHL) in 1970. He was selected by the New York Raiders in the 1972 selection draft and he joined the Raiders that season, playing 47 games. In the off-season, he was traded to the Vancouver Blazers, where he played one season before playing with the minor Tulsa Oilers in 1974–75. He joined the Quebec Nordiques organization in the off-season and he played with the Maine Nordiques for the season, with a four-game callup with the Quebec club. The Pacific Hockey League was a low-level minor professional hockey league that existed for two seasons in 1977–78, and 1978–79. Its member teams from California, Arizona and Washington states, replaced the void left by defunct World Hockey Association franchises, with some teams sharing the names of their predecessors. Roanoke Valley Rebels (SHL) Players
The Roanoke Valley Rebels were a minor league professional ice hockey team based in the Roanoke Valley in Virginia. The team first played in the Eastern Hockey League and then joined the Southern Hockey League. The team was originally known as the Salem Rebels from 1967 to 1970, playing at the Salem Civic Center in Salem, Virginia. In 1971, the Rebels began splitting home games between Salem at the newer and larger Roanoke Civic Center in Roanoke. The team name recalled Johnny Reb, a national personification of the Southern United States. The team logo resembled the '' Battle Flag'' of the Confederate States of America. Quebec Nordiques (WHA) Players
The Quebec Nordiques (french: Nordiques de Québec, pronounced in Quebec French, in Canadian English; translated "Northmen" or "Northerners") were a professional ice hockey team based in Quebec City. The Quebec Aces, also known in French as Les As de Québec, were an amateur and later a professional men's ice hockey team from Quebec City, Quebec. History The Aces were founded in 1928 by Anglo-Canadian Pulp and Paper Mills, the name Aces standing for Anglo-Canadian Employees with an ''s'' to form a plural. The French name was added later. The Aces played until 1971, from 1930 on playing home games at the Quebec Coliseum.
