Peruvian Segunda División (1912–1925)
The Segunda División (usually called simply Intermedia) was the second division of Peruvian football (soccer) in 1912 until 1925. The tournament was played on a home-and-away round-robin basis. In 1912 was the first season of top-flight Peruvian football. A total of 16 teams competed in the league. This first season with organised league, covering Lima, Callao, and suburbs such as Miraflores and Barranco. José Gálvez de Lima withdrew because of not agreeing with the competition format. The clubs from Callao (among which Atlético Chalaco) did not respond to the invitation to enter. The 16 teams were divided over a First División and a Second Division, both of 8 clubs. Atlético Grau No. 1 and Atlético Peruano finished equal on points; however, Atletico Grau No. 1 defeated Atlético Peruano in an extra match and was declared the champion of the Segunda División. CONMEBOL
CONMEBOL ( ) or CSF (; ; ), is the continental governing body of football in South America and it is one of FIFA's six continental confederations. The oldest continental confederation in the world, its headquarters are located in Luque, Paraguay. Peruvian División Intermedia (1926–1940)
The División Intermedia, the second division of Peruvian football (soccer) in 1926 until 1934, and the third division of Peruvian football (soccer) in 1935 until 1940. The tournament was played on a home-and-away round-robin basis. On August 23, 1922, the Peruvian Football Federation (FPF) was founded and since 1926 tournaments began to be played under its organization. As the second category in the tournament system, the División Intermedia was found, which granted promotions to the champion ( and sometimes to the runner-up) to the Peruvian Primera División. Only the 1928 and 1931 editions did not give direct promotion but rather the classification to a promotion league. In 1935 the División Intermedia became the third level of the tournament system below the Primera División A and the newly formed Primera División B. List Of Peruvian Football Champions
The Peruvian football champions are the winners of the highest league in Peruvian football, which is currently named as Peruvian Primera División, Liga 1 and organized by Peruvian Football Federation. The Liga Peruana de Football was established in 1912. It was an amateur league that lasted until 1921 due to scheduling and organizing conflicts. In this league only teams from Lima participated. In 1926, the Peruvian Football Federation took control of organizing the tournament and continued the Peruvian Primera División with the introduction of teams from Callao. The Peru First Division (; known simply as ''First Division'', and Liga 1 Te Apuesto for sponsorship reasons), officially known as Liga 1, is the top flight of association football in Peru. It has been referred to as Torneo Descentralizado since 1966 until 2019, when the first teams residing outside the Lima Province, Lima and Callao provinces were invited to compete in the 1912 Liga Peruana de Football, inaugural league national competition.
