Permanent Representative Of Germany To The United Nations
The role of the ambassador and permanent representative of Germany to the United Nations is as the leader of the German delegation to the United Nations in New York City and as head of the Permanent Mission of the Federal Republic of Germany to the UN. The position has the rank and status of an ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary and is also the representative of Germany in the United Nations Security Council. The permanent representative, currently Antje Leendertse, is charged with representing Germany, both through its non-permanent seat on the U.N. Security Council and also during plenary meetings of the General Assembly, except in the rare situation in which a more senior officer (such as the minister for foreign affairs or the president) is present. Antje Leendertse (born March 7, 1963) is a German diplomat. She has been Permanent Representative of Germany to the United Nations since September 2021. She was Political Director at the Federal Foreign Office from April 2018 to February 2019, then Secretary of state, State Secretary at the Federal Foreign Office under Minister Heiko Maas until mid-2021. Career Leendertse began her preparatory service for the higher foreign service in 1990 and joined the Federal Foreign Office after completing it in 1992. Sigismund Freiherr von Braun (14 April 1911 – 13 July 1998) was a German diplomat and Secretary of State in the Foreign Office (1970–1972). Biography Sigismund von Braun was born in Berlin- Zehlendorf in 1911, the eldest son of the East Prussian landowner and later Reich Food Minister Magnus von Braun (senior).
