People
The term "the people" refers to the public or Common people, common mass of people of a polity. As such it is a concept of human rights law, international law as well as constitutional law, particularly used for claims of popular sovereignty. In contrast, a people is any plurality of Person, persons considered as a whole. Used in politics and law, the term "a people" refers to the collective or community of an ethnic group or nation. People (Howard Jones Album)
''People'' is officially Howard Jones's seventh album, released in 1998. After the US release on Ark 21 Records, ''People'' was a global release via Jones' own record label dtox. The album is a reworked version of the 1997 Japanese-only release '' Angels & Lovers''. The title track and "When Lovers Confess" were deleted and three new tracks added: "Tomorrow Is Now", "Everything", and "Let the People Have Their Say". The album did not chart in the UK. However, the single "Let the People Have Their Say" broke the top 100 barrier in the UK and received ample air play on BBC Radio 2. The tri-fold slip case version features the faces of 210 people, all friends, family and fans of Jones. To promote the album, a tour was organised. Jones' band consisted of former Kajagoogoo bassist Nick Beggs, guitarist Robin Boult and on drums the late Kevin Wilkinson who has played with China Crisis. ''You Are Here'' is the debut album by Thenewno2. It was released online on 1 August 2008 and in stores on 31 March 2009. The album was written, produced, and performed by Dhani Harrison and Oliver Hecks. The album was recorded and mixed by Paul Hicks. "Another John Doe", a single from the album, was released via iTunes on 31 March 2008. The iTunes edition includes the two bonus tracks "Jokes On You" and "You Gotta Wait". Two tracks from the album, "Crazy Tuesday" and "Another John Doe", were played on radio station 103.1 on 19 June and 20 June 2008. The song "Yomp" was featured as a downloadable song for the ''Rock Band'' series, and "Crazy Tuesday" was featured as one of the 20 free songs that were downloadable with the purchase of ''Rock Band 2''. The rest of the album was announced to be released on ''Rock Band'' on Dhani Harrison's MySpace bulletin, though the rest of the album remains unreleased in the game. The album was recorded and mixed by Jalipaz Nelson at Audioconfusion in Mesa, Arizona. Track listing Critical reception Punk music review site AbsolutePunk gave the album a rating of 86 out of 100 with Dre Okorley concluding that "''Knife Man'' is synonymous to the gritted teeth and theatrical story lining of a clever manic depressive duo on a wild ride of political blindsiding and folk-rock maturity." Pop Matters gave the album a score of 8/10 stating "The moralizing on ''Knife Man'' does get heavy-handed at times, but the homespun simplicity and rage with which it’s delivered actually adds to its power." ''People Who Can Eat People Are the Luckiest People in the World'' is the second studio album by American folk punk band Andrew Jackson Jihad. The album was released by Asian Man Records on September 11, 2007. Production The title is derived from a line in Kurt Vonnegut's novel '' Hocus Pocus'' which itself is a reference to Barbra Streisand's song "People." Sean Bonnette, AJJ's frontman and co-founder, told the ''Phoenix New Times'' the band was "heavily into Kurt Vonnegut Jr. at the time of the recording." The album was recorded and mixed by Jalipaz Nelson at Audioconfusion in Mesa, Arizona. This was a change for the band which had primarily done home recordings previously. Ten years after its release, Ben Gallaty, AJJ's bassist and co-founder, observed the album's tempo was "really fucking fast" and that they "rarely had a spare moment in a song," especially when compared to the band's subsequent music.
