People's Artist (Albania)
The People's Artist () was an honorary title for outstanding art performers of the People's Socialist Republic of Albania, whose merits were exceptional in the sphere of development of the performing arts (theatre, music, cinema and art). It was created by law in 1960 and amended in 1980. The title is no longer given in Albania after the law was amended in 1996. The equivalent of it became the "Grand Master of Work" title, that was also substituted with the "Grand Master" title after a 2001 amendment of the 1996 law. Creation Founded on 26 October 1960, the honorary title of “Artist of the People” was bestowed upon singers, composers, orchestra directors, musicians, stage managers, ballet dancers, and actors in theater, cinema, and opera whose works displayed great artistic value towards the development of the performing arts in the People's Socialist Republic of Albania. Xhanfise Keko
Xhanfise Keko (27 January 1928 – 22 December 2007), born in Gjirokastër, Albania, was an Albanians, Albanian film director. Keko was one of the seven founders of Albafilm, New Albania Film Studio () (present-day Albafilm). She was the first female director and directed some 25 different movies between 1952 and 1984 including the 1975 film, ''Beni Walks by Himself'' and ''Tomka and His Friends'', both awarded at the Giffoni International Film Festival. Her films were generally targeted toward younger audiences but contemporary critics praise her "sensitive approach to her material, a technical facility outstripping her contemporaries and a highly original voice". Pandi Raidhi (14 April 1921 – 18 July 1999) was an Albanian actor, and recipient of the People's Artist of Albania recognition. Raidhi was mostly known for his performance since the 50s in theater and films, as well as for his comic role of Uncle Bako in The Lady From The City and its sequel. Biography Raidhi was born on 14 April 1921 in Korçë in southern Albania. He is considered one of the greatest actors of 20th-century Albanian cinema, and played hundreds of roles in Albanian stage and cinematography. Robert Ndrenika
Robert Ndrenika (born 10 January 1942) is an Albanian actor, honored with the People's Artist of Albania award in 1988. He was active in films, but also in theater and television performing hundreds of leading and Supporting role, supporting roles. Biography Ndrenika studied at the Qemal Stafa High School, in Tirana, Albania. Ndrenika was a member of Parliament of Albania from 1992–1996, representing the Democratic Party of Albania. Avni Mula (4 January 1928 in Gjakova – 29 October 2020 in Tirana) was an Albanian singer and composer. For his contribution to the arts, he received two of the highest awards from the Albanian government: the People's Artist of Albania decoration and the Honor of the Nation () decoration.
