Pellworm (Amt)
Pellworm is an '' Amt'' ("collective municipality") in the district of Nordfriesland, in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. Its seat is in Pellworm. In 2008, the administrative community office was merged with the administration of the town of Husum, whereas the Amt remains a political entity of its own. Amt (subnational Entity)
Amt is a type of administrative division governing a group of municipalities, today only in Germany, but formerly also common in other countries of Northern Europe. Its size and functions differ by country and the term is roughly equivalent to a British or U.S. county. Pellworm
Pellworm (; ; North Frisian ''Polweerm'') is a municipality in the district of Nordfriesland, in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. The municipality is located on the island of Pellworm – one of the North Frisian Islands on the North Sea coast of Germany. Its area is 37 km2, and its population is roughly 1,200. A landmark is the Old Church () with its Arp Schnitger organ from about 1710. Next to this church is the ruin of its 13th-century steeple. The 58 m tall tower collapsed partially in 1611. The 30 m tall ruin has been conserved, so that it is safe for further decay. Locals often call the tower ''Finger Gottes'', ''God's Finger''. The tower is depicted in the coat of arms of Pellworm. In medieval times Pellworm was a part of the larger island of Strand which was torn into pieces in the disastrous Burchardi flood in 1634. Other remnants of Strand are Nordstrand and the Halligen. Husum
Husum (, ) is the capital of the ''Kreis'' (district) Nordfriesland in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. The town was the birthplace of the novelist Theodor Storm, who coined the epithet "the grey town by the sea". It is also the home of the annual international piano festival ''Raritäten der Klaviermusik'' (Rarities of Piano Music) founded in 1986. History Husum was first mentioned as ''Husembro'' in 1252, when king Abel was murdered. Like most towns on the North Sea, Husum was strongly influenced by storm tides. In 1362 a disastrous storm tide, the " Grote Mandrenke" flooded the town and carved out the inland harbour. Before this date Husum was not situated directly on the coast. Hooge (; , North Frisian: ''Huuge'') is a municipality in the district of Nordfriesland, in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. The municipality is located on the island of Hooge – a small island off the coast of Germany. It is the second largest of the ten halligen in the Wadden Sea, after Langeneß. Langeneß
Langeneß (; ; ) is a municipality in the district of Nordfriesland, in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. It consists of the halligen (islands) Langeneß and Oland. Before the flood of 1634 the two islands were directly attached. Langeneß itself has 16 Warften and is the largest Hallig. It has about 100 inhabitants and 58 households.
