Peleng Leaf Warbler
The Peleng leaf warbler (''Phylloscopus suaramerdu'') is a species of Old World warbler in the family Phylloscopidae. It was first described in 2020. The species name is derived from "suara merdu" in Indonesian, translating as "melodious voice", referring to the pleasing vocalizations of this bird. Old World Warbler
The Old World warblers are a large group of birds formerly grouped together in the bird family Sylviidae. They are not closely related to the New World warblers. The family held over 400 species in over 70 genera, and were the source of much taxonomic confusion. Two families were split out initially, the cisticolas into Cisticolidae and the kinglets into Regulidae. In the past 20–30 years they have been the subject of much research and many species are now placed into other families, including the Acrocephalidae, Cettiidae, Phylloscopidae, and Megaluridae. In addition some species have been moved into existing families or have not yet had their placement fully resolved. Only a small number of warblers, in just two genera, are now retained in the family Sylviidae. Phylloscopidae
Leaf warblers are small insectivorous passerine birds belonging to the genus ''Phylloscopus''. Leaf warblers were formerly included in the Old World warbler family but are now considered to belong to the family Phylloscopidae, introduced in 2006. The family originally included the genus ''Seicercus'', but all species have been moved to ''Phylloscopus'' in the most recent classification. Leaf warblers are active, constantly moving, often flicking their wings as they glean the foliage for insects along the branches of trees and bushes. They forage at various levels within forests, from the top canopy to the understorey. Most of the species are markedly territorial both in their summer and winter quarters. Peleng
Peleng is an island off the east coast of Sulawesi, Indonesia and is the largest island of the Banggai Islands (''Kepulauan Banggai''). It is surrounded by the Banda Sea and Molucca Sea and has an area of 2,488.79 km2 (including offshore islands). Peleng Island comprises the Banggai Islands Regency (within Central Sulawesi Province), which also includes some 440 small islands around the coast of Peleng, of which the largest are Bangkalan and Bakamanpauno Islands off the north coast of Peleng. Banggai Islands Regency
The Banggai Archipelago () is a group of islands located at the far eastern end of Central Sulawesi, Indonesia. It makes up a regency (''kabupaten'') of Central Sulawesi Province of Indonesia, created on 4 October 1999 by splitting the existing Banggai Regency into a residual Banggai Regency situated on the mainland of Sulawesi (capital, Luwuk) and a new Banggai Islands Regency (''Kabupaten Banggai Kepulauan'') then comprising the entire archipelago (with its capital at Banggai town).
