Peillon (; ; , formerly) is a rural commune in the Alpes-Maritimes department in the southeastern Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region in France. ''Village perché'' The village of Peillon, perched on a hilltop in the Paillon Valley, is known to have stairs instead of roads; it is dominated by its Église Saint-Sauveur (Saint Sauveur church), which was last restored in 1980. Giovanni Canavesio
Giovanni Canavesio (before 1450 – 1500) was an Italian artist, documented as a "master artist" in 1450 . He was proficient in polyptychs or panels, monumental paintings, and book illuminations. He was active in Liguria and southern France later in his life but documents of his activities before 1450 are missing. Career Canavesio was born in Pinerolo, Piedmont. The earliest document about Canavesio dates to 1450, when he was recorded as a "master artist" in the Piedmontese town of Pinerolo. However, there are still doubts about when Canavesio started his career. Between the registration in Piedmontese in 1450 and his first documented work in 1472, Canavesio became a priest. Later in his life, Canavesio is referred to as a "presbiter", a priest in Latin, in almost all of the documents and signed works. Breil-sur-Roya (, literally ''Breil on Roya''; or simply ''Breglio''; ; ) is a commune in the Alpes-Maritimes department in southeastern France. Population Geography Breil-sur-Roya as its name says is located on the scenic and fast moving river Roya within the river's gorge and along the adjacent escarpments. The area features river rafting, swimming, and hiking. Breil-sur-Roya is one of the towns on the route of the SNCF Train des Merveilles which runs between Nice and Cuneo in Italy. Trains operate seven times each direction as of 2020 and can be taken from Nice (1 + 1/2 hour) for area touring.
