Peekaboo (album)
''Peekaboo'' is the second studio album of the synthpop duo Marsheaux. It was issued in 2006 by Undo Records. Upon its release in Marsheaux's native Greece in December 2006, it earned positive reviews from music critics. The album was formally released in the UK on 9 April 2007. It has also sold well internationally on the internet, principally in the UK and USA. ''Peekaboo'' is heavily influenced by the early analogue synthesizer works of Depeche Mode and The Human League. It contains two covers, "Regret" by New Order and " The Promise" by When in Rome. All vocals are in English. Reception The album has received favourable ratings from critics. The '' Side-Line'' magazine called it "pure synth-pop music with strong references to the 80s" comparing it to the music of Ladytron. "Regret" is a song by British alternative rock band New Order. It was released on 5 April 1993, by London Records, as the lead single from their sixth studio album, ''Republic'' (1993). Stephen Hague is credited as both the producer and as a co-writer. It was the band's first single released on CentreDate Co Ltd (through London Records) following the collapse of Factory Records. The song was a critical and commercial success, reaching the top 10 in Canada, Ireland, Portugal and the United Kingdom. It peaked at number 28 on the US ''Billboard'' Hot 100—New Order's highest placement on that chart—and reached number one on two other ''Billboard'' charts. Ladytron are an electronic band formed in Liverpool in 1999. The group consists of Helen Marnie (lead vocals, synthesizers), Mira Aroyo (vocals, synthesizers), and Daniel Hunt (synthesizers, guitar, vocals). Reuben Wu (synthesizers) was a member from 1999 until 2023. When in Rome are an English synth-pop/New wave music, new wave group, which originally consisted of vocalists Clive Farrington and Andrew Mann, and keyboardist Michael Floreale. They are best known for their 1988 single "The Promise (When in Rome song), The Promise", which was their only top 40 hit on the Billboard Hot 100, ''Billboard'' Hot 100 in the US. As of July 2012, there were two bands using the When in Rome name, although the original lineup has been disbanded since 1990. "The Promise" is the debut single by the British synth-pop band When in Rome (band), When in Rome. It was first released in 1987 on 10 Records, as the lead single from their When in Rome (When in Rome album), self-titled debut album. It was written by all three band members: Clive Farrington, Andrew Mann and Michael Floreale. The song was released in the U.S. in 1988 and reached number 11 on the Billboard Hot 100, ''Billboard'' Hot 100 chart. It is the band's biggest commercial hit. In 2020, Farrington and Mann, in collaboration with the City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra and Slovenia Symphonic Film Orchestra, released a 30th anniversary orchestral edition of "The Promise" on both CD and vinyl. The Human League
The Human League are an English synth-pop band formed in Sheffield in 1977. Marsheaux
Marsheaux is a Greek synthpop duo formed in Athens in 2003. The group is composed of vocalists, songwriters and keyboardists Marianthi Melitsi and Sophie Sarigiannidou. The name Marsheaux is derived from the first syllable of each band member's name. Both members sing almost exclusively in English. Andy McCluskey of OMD said about this band: "I do have a soft spot for Marsheaux I have to say. They have a certain sort of wispy, melancholic charm". Depeche Mode are an English electronic music, electronic band formed in Basildon, Essex in 1980. Originally formed with the line-up of Dave Gahan, Martin Gore, Andy Fletcher (musician), Andy Fletcher and Vince Clarke, the band currently consists of Gahan and Gore.
