Peabody High School (Milledgeville, Georgia)
Peabody School, also referred to as Peabody Model School, which was developed to become Peabody High School in 1927, was a public school and boarding school for girls in Milledgeville, Georgia. It was established in 1891 and phased out in the 1970s. It was on the campus of the Georgia Normal and Industrial College which became Georgia State College for Women and later Georgia College. Education program students from the college observed classes and seniors taught at the school for an hour per week. The Peabody Child & Family Center became an offshoot and operated until 2000. A historical marker, garden, and scholarship fund at the college commemorate its existence. Peabody High School (Pennsylvania)
Peabody High School was a public school in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, in the neighborhood of East Liberty. The school opened in 1911 in the renovated former Margaretta Street elementary school and was rededicated in honor of Highland Park physician Dr. Benjamin Helm Peabody. After 100 years in operation, the school board of the Pittsburgh Public Schools voted to close the school and graduate its final class in 2011. The Barack Obama Academy of International Studies 6-12 relocated to the building starting in the 2012–2013 school year. The Peabody name was no longer used. History The site at Highland Avenue and Margaretta Street (now East Liberty Boulevard) which eventually became Peabody High School was previously occupied by the old Highland (19th Ward) public school, which opened in 1870. Peabody High School is a public high school in Trenton, Tennessee, operated by the Trenton Special School District for grades 9–12. The school mascot is The Golden Tide and school colors are black and gold. The Trenton campus of Dyersburg State Community College is adjacent to the Peabody campus. This allows Peabody students an opportunity to obtain college credit by taking courses at Dyersburg State while attending high school. Peabody School (Eastman, Georgia)
Peabody School, also known as Peabody High School, is a former school for African Americans on Herman Avenue in Eastman, Georgia. Built in 1938, it was designed by Eastman-born American architect Edward Columbus Hosford, who is noted for the courthouses and other buildings that he designed in Florida, Georgia and Texas. The brick building's design includes elements of the Colonial Revival style. The segregated school educated the African-American high school students of Eastman and most other parts of Dodge County. In 1950, the school became an elementary school serving grades 1 through 8 after a new high school opened. It was closed in 1970 and its students were integrated into Dodge County High School and other formerly all-white public schools in Dodge County.
