''Paula'' is a 1994 memoir by Isabel Allende. She intended to write a straightforward narrative about the darkest experience of her own life. But the book is a tribute to her deceased daughter Paula Frías Allende, who fell into a porphyria-induced coma in 1991 and never recovered. Plot summary Isabel Allende wrote ''Paula'' while tending to her daughter, Paula Frías Allende, who was in a coma arising from complications of porphyria. Allende started the book as a letter to Paula, explaining what she was missing so she would not be confused when she recovered. (Operation Paula) is the German codename for a operation to destroy the remaining units of the (AdA, French Air Force) during the Battle of France in 1940. On 10 May the German armed forces () began their invasion of Western Europe. By 3 June, the bulk of the British Army had withdrawn from Dunkirk Operation Dynamo, the Netherlands and Belgium had surrendered and most of the formations of the French Army were disbanded or destroyed. Severe Tropical Cyclone Paula was a tropical cyclone which caused extensive damage to areas of Vanuatu. The cyclone was the second cyclone and only severe tropical cyclone of the relatively inactive 2000–01 South Pacific cyclone season.
