Paul Hoffman (basketball)
Paul Jacob Hoffman (May 5, 1925 – November 12, 1998) was an American professional basketball player. High school and college career Hoffman, a 6'2" guard (basketball), guard/forward (basketball), forward, attended Jasper High School in Jasper, Indiana from 1939 to 1943; his coach was the legendary Cabby O'Neill. After high school, he attended Purdue University, where he played under head coach Ward Lambert. He became the only four time First Team-All Big Ten selection in Purdue Boilermakers men's basketball, Boilermaker history and one of the first two players to be selected in the 1947 NBA draft, NBA draft with teammate Bulbs Ehlers. He led Purdue in scoring all four seasons and won the MVP award for his performance in the 1947 All-American All-Star game at Madison Square Garden. Paul Hoffman (rowing)
Paul Hoffman (born April 21, 1946) is an American coxswain who competed in the 1968 Summer Olympics and in the 1972 Summer Olympics. He was born in New York City in 1946. Hoffman was the cox for the men's eight at the 1967 European Rowing Championships where the team won silver. He was a member of the US Olympic Rowing Team at the 1968 Summer Olympics in Mexico City. A supporter of the Olympic Project for Human Rights (OPHR), Hoffman provided Peter Norman, the Australian winner of the silver medal of the 200m track race, with his OPHR badge, which Norman then wore at the medal ceremony in support of the protest by Tommie Smith and John Carlos. Hoffman then faced a disciplinary hearing by the U.S. Olympic Committee, where he was accused of conspiracy. He was found not guilty and was allowed to take part in the eights race. Paul Hoffman (born March 30, 1956) is the president and CEO of the Liberty Science Center in Jersey City, New Jersey. Paulo George Marques João (born March 31), better known by his stage name Paul G, is an Angolan urban pop and R&B singer-songwriter, producer and dancer. He began his career as a founding member of Angola's first worldly known rap group South Side Posse (SSP) alongside Big Nelo, Jeff Brown, and Kudi. Later, Paul G went on to produce and guide the career of Bruna Tatiana, making her the first contestant from Angola in the hit real life television show Big Brother Africa. The Francis Parkman Prize, named after Francis Parkman, is awarded by the Society of American Historians for the best book in American history each year. Its purpose is to promote literary distinction in historical writing. The Society of American Historians is an affiliate of the American Historical Association. Eligibility The Parkman Prize is offered annually to a non-fiction book, including biography, that is distinguished by its literary merit and makes an important contribution to the history of what is now the United States.
