Paul Fischer (luthier)
Paul Fischer (born Isle of Man 1941), a British maker of musical instruments, began making harpsichords and clavichords in 1956 in Oxford under the tutelage of Robert Goble, with further study at the Oxford College of Art and Technology. After military service (11th Hussars) he joined the lute and guitar maker David Rubio at Duns Tew, Oxfordshire. With the benefit of Fischer's experience, Rubio began making harpsichords, soon to be followed by theorbos, viheulas, pandoras, citterns and baroque guitars. Bowed instruments were to follow. As the workforce expanded to meet increasing demand, Fischer was appointed manager and oversaw the making of this wide range of instruments until establishing his own studio in 1975. Paul Fischer (painter)
(John George) Paul Fischer (1786–1875) was a German painter. Fischer was born at Hanover on 16 September 1786. He was the youngest of three sons of a line-engraver, who died very soon after the birth of the youngest child, leaving his family in poverty. At the age of fourteen, Fischer was placed as a pupil with Johann Heinrich Ramberg, the fashionable court painter, by whom he was employed in painting portraits, theatrical scenery, and generally assisting his master. He became capable of earning enough money to support his mother. In 1810 he betook himself to England, and his Hanoverian connection rendered it easy for him to obtain the patronage of royalty. He painted miniature portraits of Queen Charlotte and the junior members of the royal family, and was employed by the Prince Regent to paint a series of military costumes. Paul Gustav Fischer (22 July 1860 – 5 January 1934) was a Denmark, Danish painter. Biography Paul Fischer was born in Copenhagen, Denmark. He belonged to the fourth generation of a Jewish family which originally came from Poland. He was the son of Philip August Fischer (1817–1907) and Gustafva Albertina Svedgren (1827–1883). The family was upper middle class; His father had started as a painter, but later succeeded in the business of manufacturing paints and lacquers. His formal art education lasted only a short time in his mid teens when he spent two years at the Royal Danish Academy of Art in Copenhagen. Fischer began to paint when he was still young, guided by his father. He worked from 1878–88 at the father's factory and exhibited regularly at Charlottenborg Spring Exhibition 1884–1902. Paul Henri Fischer (also spelled Paul-Henri Fischer), (7 July 1835 Paris – 29 November 1893) was a French physician, zoologist and paleontologist. He is generally known as Paul Fischer. Biography He studied science and medicine, securing doctorates in both, and became assistant in paleontology at the National Museum of Natural History (France), National Museum of Natural History in Paris. He was made assistant naturalist there in 1872. Beginning in 1856, he was joint editor, with A. C. Bernardi to start with, of the ''Journal de Conchyliologie''. He served several terms as president of the Société Géologique de France and the Société zoologique de France, Société Zoologique de France. In 1880, he was a member of the commission for Marine biology dredge, submarine dredging.
