Patricia Chapple Wright (born September 10, 1944) is an American primatologist, anthropologist, and Conservation movement, conservationist. Wright is best known for her extensive study of social and family interactions of wild lemurs in Madagascar. Dr. Wright established the Institute for the Conservation of Tropical Environments at Stony Brook University. She has led over 60 field expeditions in countries such as Borneo, East Malaysia, Indonesia, Madagascar, Paraguay, Peru and Philippines. She worked extensively on conservation and contributed to the establishment of the Ranomafana National Park in Madagascar. Dr. Wright was the first female recipient of the Indianapolis Zoo Prize (2014), and has also received 3 Medal of Honors from the Malagasy government for her work in Madagascar. Patricia Wright Ellis (born July 5, 1921) is an American former actress and dancer, weather presenter, announcer, and commercial spokeswoman who made several film and television appearances throughout the 1950s and 1960s. She also wrote, directed and produced, and was featured in printed adverts and educational videos for which she won awards, including at the Argentine Film Festival. Ellis was the leading lady in the short subject '' Cuckoo on a Choo Choo'', opposite The Three Stooges. She was also an announcer on the late 1950s daytime television series ''Queen for a Day''. Dana Rivers (born 1954 or 1955) is an American transgender advocate and convicted murderer. In 1999, Rivers was fired from her job as a teacher at Center High School in Antelope, California, after she revealed to the school that she soon intended to live her life as a woman. Her subsequent suit brought national attention to the case. In 2022, Rivers was convicted of the 2016 murders of Charlotte Reed, 56, and her wife Patricia Wright, 57, and their son Benny Diambu-Wright, 19. Early life and career Rivers grew up in the San Francisco area. She served three years in the US Navy before pursuing a career in education. Rivers was a labor leader in Orange County for the American Federation of Teachers, and in the 1980s was twice elected to the board of the Huntington Beach Union High School District. Patrisha Wright is an American disability rights activist. She is legally blind. She was instrumental in enacting the Americans with Disabilities Act. Activism She was at the San Francisco sit-in to support Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act in April 1977, as a personal assistant to Judy Heumann. In 1979 she cofounded the Disability Rights Education and Defense Fund (DREDF) with Mary Lou Breslin and Robert Funk. From 1979 until 2005 she worked as Director of Government Affairs for DREDF. She fought for the enactment of the Handicapped Children's Protection Act of 1986 and amendments to the Fair Housing Act regarding people with disabilities. Wright represented disability concerns in an alliance of civil rights groups that were all working to pass the Civil Rights Restoration Act of 1987.
