Patkai Green Tree Frog
The Patkai green tree frog (''Gracixalus patkaiensis'') is a small tree frog native to Arunachal Pradesh, India. Description In thVertebrate Zoologypaper that was written on the frog, it is stated that it was around in length. It also has a green dorsum with irregular brown spots. Other features of the frog include a dark streak along the back, and white marks on the sides of its body. It was noted that it had a slender physique with a long head. Behavior Mating Though there is little information on the mating season of the Patkai green tree frog, it is known that its mating call supposedly sounds like that of insects. Discovery The frog was discovered by Indian and German researchers (B. Boruah, V. Deepak, N.G. Patel, V. Jithin, T. Yomcha, and A. Namdapha Tiger Reserve
Namdapha National Park is a large national park in Arunachal Pradesh of Northeast India. The park was established in 1983. With more than 1,000 floral and about 1,400 faunal species, it is a biodiversity hotspot in the Eastern Himalayas. It harbours the northernmost lowland evergreen forest, evergreen rainforests in the world at 27°N latitude. It also harbours extensive dipterocarp forests, comprising the northwestern parts of the Mizoram-Manipur-Kachin rain forests ecoregion. It is the fourth largest national park in India. In 2024, it was declared as a Eco-Sensitive Zone. The Pat-kai (Pron:pʌtˌkaɪ) or Patkai Bum ( Burmese: ''Patkaing Taungdan'') are a series of mountains on the Indo-Myanmar border falling in the northeastern Indian states of Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland and Upper Burma region of Myanmar. In Tai-Ahom language, Pat means ''to cut'' and Kai means ''chicken''. Geography The Patkai range mountains, part of Purvanchal Range, are not as rugged as the Himalayas and the peaks are much lower. Features of the range include conical peaks, steep slopes and deep valleys. Three mountain ranges come under the Patkai: the Patkai-Bum, the Garo-Khasi-Jaintia hills and the Lushai Hills.
