Pat Scanlon (third Baseman)
James Patrick Scanlon (born September 23, 1952), also known as Pat Scanlon, is a former Major League Baseball third baseman. He played all or part of four seasons in the majors, from until , for the Montreal Expos and San Diego Padres. Career Scanlon was originally drafted by the Expos in 1970 after excelling as a three sport athlete at Benilde High School in St. Louis Park, Minnesota. He was traded with Tony Scott and Steve Dunning from the Expos to the St. Louis Cardinals for Bill Greif, Sam Mejías and Ángel Torres on November 8, 1976. All three players coming to St. Louis had spent the 1976 season with the Denver Bears which were led by recently-hired Cardinals manager Vern Rapp. Scanlon batted .308 with 18 home runs and 75 runs batted in (RBI) during that campaign. Pat Scanlan
Patrick James Scanlan (7 July 1878 – 16 July 1938) was an Australian rules footballer who played with Melbourne in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Family The son of Michael Scanlan (1836-1922), and Mary Ann Scanlan (1849-1930), née Spall, Patrick James Scanlan was born at Cobden, Victoria on 7 July 1878. He married Margaret Agnes Hogan (1876–1964) in 1902. They had nine children; one of which, a son, died in his infancy. Football He made his debut (kicking two of the team's five goals) for Melbourne, against St Kilda, at the MCG, on 25 June 1898. He played in another four senior matches in 1898, and one in 1899. Death He died at Elingamite, near Cobden, Victoria Cobden is a town located 200 kilometres southwest of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia named in honour of Richard Cobden.
