Patrick John O'Connor (22 August 1924 – 16 August 1990), was a New Zealand/American amateur wrestler and professional wrestler. Regarded as one of the premier Work (professional wrestling), workers of his era, O'Connor held the AWA World Heavyweight Championship and NWA World Heavyweight Championship simultaneously, the latter of which he held for approximately two years. Pat O’Connor (born 7 January 1985) is an Australian rugby union footballer. He has played for the Western Force and the Waratahs in Super Rugby, and for SU Agen in the Top 14. The position he usually plays is lock. Early life O'Connor was born in Brisbane, Australia. He attended secondary school at Marist College Ashgrove in Brisbane, where he played rugby for the 1st XV. During his final year at Ashgrove in 2002, he was selected to represent Queensland at the Australian Schools Rugby Championships. Rugby career In 2003, O’Connor was invited to join the Reds Rugby College from the GPS club in Brisbane. Patrick James O'Connor (October 9, 1928 – May 30, 1958) was an American racecar driver. He was killed in a 15-car pileup, after sustaining a fatal head injury after rolling his car and catching fire on the first lap of the 1958 Indianapolis 500. Champ Car O'Connor competed in 36 races in his champ car career. He took his first win in 1956 at Darlington Raceway. In 1957, he won the pole position for the Indianapolis 500 and he finished eighth. Later in the year, he won at Trenton Speedway. He was on the cover of ''Sports Illustrated'' in May 1958 (one week before the race), adding to the legend of the Sports Illustrated Cover Jinx. Amateur career At the age of 16 O'Connor won the 1967 Golden Gloves national welterweight championship. Professional career O'Connor's first professional fight was a second-round knockout win against Muhammed Smith on June 6 of 1968. Patrick Joseph O'Connor (born November 1, 1993) is an American professional football defensive end for the Detroit Lions of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football for the Eastern Michigan Eagles. College career O'Connor recorded 42 tackles and 8.5 sacks as a senior playing for Eastern Michigan University. Career In 1982, O'Connor won a Jacob's Award for his direction of the RTÉ TV adaptation of William Trevor's short story ''Ballroom of Romance'', starring Cyril Cusack and Brenda Fricker.
