Passive Entry
A smart key is a vehicular passive entry system developed by Siemens in 1995 and introduced by Mercedes-Benz under the name "Keyless-Go" in 1998 on the W220 Mercedes-Benz S-Class (W220), S-Class, after the design patent was filed by Daimler-Benz on May 17, 1997. Numerous manufacturers subsequently developed similar passive systems that unlock a vehicle on approach — while the key remains pocketed by the user. Operation The smart key allows the driver to keep the key fob pocketed when unlocking, locking and starting the vehicle. The key is identified via one of several Antenna (radio), antennas in the car's bodywork and an ISM band radio pulse generator in the key housing. Depending on the system, the vehicle is automatically unlocked when a button or sensor on the door handle or trunk release is pressed. National Insurance Crime Bureau
The National Insurance Crime Bureau (NICB) is a U.S. insurance industry trade association focused on preventing, detecting and defeating insurance fraud and vehicle theft through information analysis, investigations, training, legislative advocacy and public awareness. NICB's headquarters are in Oak Brook, Illinois. Much of NICB's focus is on motor vehicle theft. It has advocated for better insurance fraud statutes in the criminal codes drafted by state legislatures. Tools and reports the NICB provides to combat car theft include VINCheck, "a free lookup service provided to the public to assist in determining if a vehicle may have a record of an insurance theft claim", a Report Fraud hotline, and two reports: Hot Wheels, which lists the most commonly stolen vehicles; and Hot Spots, the locations across the United States where auto thefts are most common. BMW X3 (G01)
The BMW X3 is an SUV manufactured by BMW since 2003, based on the BMW 3 Series platform. BMW markets the car as a ''Sports Activity Vehicle'', the company's proprietary descriptor for its X-line luxury vehicles. The first-generation X3 was designed by BMW in conjunction with Magna Steyr of Graz, Austria—who also manufactured all X3s under contract to BMW. BMW manufactured the second-generation X3 at their Spartanburg plant in South Carolina, United States. Starting with the third generation, BMW South Africa's Rosslyn plant began production of the X3, alongside the Spartanburg plant, after the facility underwent a major upgrade to prepare for the X3 production, replacing the long-running 3 Series production in the plant. BMW 8 Series (G15)
The second-generation of the BMW 8 Series consists of the BMW G14 (convertible version), BMW G15 (two-door coupe version) grand tourers and BMW G16 (four-door "Gran Coupe" sedan version) executive cars ( E). The G14/G15/G16 generation has been in production since 2018, and is often collectively referred to as the G15. It is the successor to the BMW 6 Series (F06/F12/F13) range and marks the return of the BMW 8 Series nameplate after nearly two decades, which was previously produced as the E31 until its discontinuation in 1999. The G15 is powered by turbocharged six-cylinder petrol, six-cylinder diesel, and V8 petrol engines, all mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. BMW 7 Series (G70)
G70 is the internal designation for the seventh generation of the BMW 7 Series, a range of luxury cars produced by the German luxury vehicle manufacturer BMW since July 2022. Introduced in April 2022, 7 Series and i7 are the respective designations for BMW's internal combustion and battery electric full-size luxury flagship models. BMW had unveiled the model on 20 April 2022 during the nameplate's 45th anniversary. Sold as a 2023 model, it is longer than its predecessor model. This model offers petrol and diesel models, come standard with a 48-volt mild hybrid powertrain; a plug-in hybrid system is available.
