The MRT Purple line () or MRT Chalong Ratchadham line () is Bangkok's Mass Rapid Transit Master Plan in Bangkok Metropolitan Region, fifth rapid transit line, following the Sukhumvit Line, Silom Line, Blue Line (Bangkok), Blue Line, and Airport Rail Link (Bangkok), Airport Rail Link. The line is long, serving the north-western area of Bangkok running from Tao Poon MRT station, Tao Poon to Khlong Bang Phai MRT station, Khlong Bang Phai in Nonthaburi Province. The Northern section of the line opened on 6 August 2016, with travel between Khlong Bang Phai and Tao Poon. It is the second line of MRT (Bangkok), MRT system and is operated by Bangkok Expressway and Metro Public Company Limited, BEM under a concession contract. Japan Transport Engineering Company
is a manufacturer of heavy rail cars in Japan, formerly known as . The company is based in Kanazawa-ku, Yokohama, and a member of East Japan Railway Company (JR East) group. The Airport Rail Link (ARL) () is an airport rail link line in Bangkok Metropolitan Region connecting Suvarnabhumi Airport to the city center. The commuter rail line starts at the underground platforms inside Suvarnabhumi station, before ascending onto an elevated viaduct to Lat Krabang station, and continuing west parallel to the Eastern Line (Thailand), eastern line railway. It intersects with Yellow Line (Bangkok), Yellow Line and Blue Line (Bangkok), Blue Line before terminating at Phaya Thai station where it meets Sukhumvit Line. It is owned by State Railway of Thailand (SRT) and, since 2021, operated by Asia Era One Company Limited. Chao Phraya River
The Chao Phraya River is the major river in Thailand, with its low alluvial plain forming the centre of the country. It flows through Bangkok and then into the Gulf of Thailand. Etymology Written evidence of the river being referred to by the name ''Chao Phraya'' dates only to the reign of King Mongkut (Rama IV, 1850–1868). It is unknown what name, if any at all, was used for the river in older times. Bang Yai (, ) is a district (''amphoe'') in the western part of Nonthaburi province, central Thailand. History The district was created in 1917 as a minor district (''king amphoe'') by splitting it from the districts Bang Kruai and Bang Bua Thong. In 1921 it was elevated to full district status. Originally named Bang Mae Nang, on 19 October 1930 it was renamed "Bang Yai", the original name of Bang Kruai District. A ''khlong'' (, ), alternatively spelt as ''klong'' () commonly refers to a canal in Thailand. These canals are spawned by the rivers Chao Phraya, Tha Chin, and Mae Klong, along with their tributaries particularly in the low-lying areas of central Thailand. The Thai word ''khlong'' is not limited to artificial canals. Many smaller rivers are referred to as "''khlong''" followed by the name of the stream.
