Paralympic Committee Of India
The Paralympic Committee of India is the body responsible for selecting athletes to represent India at the Paralympic Games and other international athletic meets and for managing the Indian teams at the events. The organisation was founded in 1992 as the Physically Handicapped Sports Federation of India but was renamed to be inclusive. History In 1992, M. Mahadeva along with others started an organization at national level for the promotion and development of sports for the physically challenged and differently-abled people, Physically Handicapped Sports Federation of India. It was registered in 1994 with the registrar of co-operative societies, Bangalore, Karnataka. Its first President was Rathan Singh. Parasports Organizations
Parasports are sports played by people with a disability, including physical and intellectual disabilities. Some parasports are forms of adapted physical activities from existing non-disabled sports, while others have been specifically created for persons with a disability and do not have a non-disabled equivalent. Disability exists in four categories: physical, mental, permanent and temporary. At a competitive level, disability sport classifications are applied to allow people of varying abilities to face similar opposition. ''Mid-Day'' (stylised as mid-day) is a morning daily Indian Compact (newspaper), compact newspaper.
