Paraguayan Futsal League System
Futsal in Paraguay is made up of a pyramidal system of interconnected leagues (divisions), whose highest category is the Liga Premium. All categories are organized by the Futsal Division of the Paraguayan Football Association. At the end of each season, and depending on the results obtained, the participating teams can be promoted or relegated from its division. Futsal
Futsal is a football-based game played on a hard court smaller than a football pitch, and mainly indoors. It has similarities to five-a-side football and indoor football. Futsal is played between two teams of five players each, one of whom is the goalkeeper. Unlimited substitutions are permitted. Unlike some other forms of indoor soccer, it is played on a hard court surface marked by lines; walls or boards are not used. It is played with a smaller, harder, lower-bounce ball than football. The surface, ball and rules favour ball control and passing in small spaces. The game emphasizes control, improvisation, creativity and technique. Naming ''Futsal'' comes from the Portuguese ''futebol de salão'' and from the Spanish ''fútbol sala'' or ''fútbol de salón'' (all translatable as "indoor football"). Club Presidente Hayes is a Paraguayan football (soccer) club from Tacumbú, a section of Asunción, Paraguay. The club is also known colloquially by its nicknames The Yankees (''Los Yanquis'') and The Little Star (''La Estrellita''). They play regularly in Asuncion's Kiko Reyes Stadium (''Estadio Kiko Reyes'') as part of the Paraguayan Soccer League (''Asociacion Paraguaya de Futbol''). Club Sportivo Ameliano, also simply known as Ameliano, is a Paraguayan football club based in Virgen del Huerto neighborhood in the city of Asunción. The club competes in the Paraguayan Primera División for the 2022 season after their promotion at the end of the 2021 Paraguayan División Intermedia. The club was home to Alfredo Mazacotte who began his career in the youth teams of the club, and is actually the home of historic striker Marcos Caballero who serves at the club since 2003, the player was the leading goal scorer of the Primera División C of 2008 with 11 annotations along with Alberto Cristaldo of Deportivo Recoleta. Atlántida Sport Club is a Paraguayan football club from the neighbourhood of Obrero, in Asunción. The club was founded on December 23, 1906 and plays in the Primera División B Metropolitana of the Tercera División since the 2013 season. Their home games are played at the Estadio Flaviano Díaz. The club has been playing in the lower divisions of the Paraguayan league for several decades and their most notable achievements are the three second-place finishes they achieved when they were playing in the first division. Club Silvio Pettirossi, is a Paraguayan football club based in the barrio of Republicano, in Asunción. The club was founded March 11, 1926 and plays in the fourth division of the Paraguayan league. Their home games are played at the Bernabé Pedrozo stadium. The club's name was chosen in honor of Silvio Pettirossi, a famous Paraguayan airplane pilot and aviation pioneer. In 2007 they won the Intermedia (Paraguayan second division tournament) and will thus be in the top flight of Paraguayan football in 2008. Club Deportivo Santaní, is a Paraguayan football club based in the city of San Estanislao, locally known as ''Santaní''. The club was founded February 27, 2009 and plays in División Intermedia, the second division in the Paraguayan football league system. Club Olimpia is a Paraguayan sports club based in the city of Asunción. The club promotes the practice of various sports with most importance given to the football, rugby and basketball sides, the former being the highest priority and most successful. Humaitá is a town and '' distrito'' on the Paraguay River in southern Paraguay. During the Paraguayan War, it served as the main Paraguayan stronghold from 1866 until its fall in August 1868. During that time, it housed as many as 24,000 troops. Up until March 1868, it was the de facto home of the Paraguayan government.
