Paradise (2023 Film)
''Paradise'' is a 2023 Sri Lankan-Indian co-produced drama film, co-written and directed by Prasanna Vithanage. The film is presented by Mani Ratnam and Siva Ananth under the Madras Talkies banner and produced by Newton Cinema. It stars Roshan Mathew, Darshana Rajendran, Shyam Fernando and Mahendra Perera and tells the story of a married couple whose anniversary vacation goes awry in Sri Lanka. ''Paradise'' had its world premiere at the 28th Busan International Film Festival on 7 October 2023, where it won the Kim Jiseok Award. Prasanna Vithanage
Udaya Prasanna Vithanage () (born 14 March 1962) is a Sri Lankan filmmaker. He is widely regarded as one of the most talented and influential filmmakers in South Asia. He is known for thought-provoking films that often deals with social, political and cultural issues. His films have received numerous awards accolades, both locally and internationally and have been praised for their innovative storytelling. He has battled against the censorship in Sri Lanka and worked as an educator of cinema who has conducted many Master classes in the subcontinent for young filmmakers and enthusiasts. Prasanna Vithanage is also an activist and has been involved in human rights and peace initiatives. The Kim Jiseok Award () is an annual film award, presented by the Busan International Film Festival The Busan International Film Festival (BIFF; ), formerly the Pusan International Film Festival (PIFF), held annually in Haeundae District, Busan, South Korea, is one of the most significant film festivals in Asia. The International Film Festival of Kerala (abbreviated as IFFK) is a film festival held annually in Thiruvananthapuram, the capital city of Kerala, India. The Vesoul International Film Festival of Asian Cinema () is an annual special-interest film festival focusing on the cinemas of Asia. The festival is held annually in Vesoul, France. It was created in 1995 by Martine and Jean-Marc Thérouanne who have been codirecting the festival since then. The highest award of the festival is the Golden Cyclo Award.
