''Paradesi'' or ''Poongothai'' is a 1953 Indian Telugu-Tamil bilingual romance film, produced by P. Adinarayana Rao under the Anjali pictures banner and directed by L. V. Prasad. .This is actually the first film acted by Sivaji but Parasakthi came first.It stars Akkineni Nageswara Rao, Anjali Devi, and Sivaji Ganesan with music composed by P. Adinarayana Rao. The film is a remake of the Hindi movie ''Raj Rani'' (1950). ''Paradesi'' was an average grosser at the box office. No print of ''Poongothai'' is known to survive, making it a lost film. Plot The film begins at a hill station, ''Sitagiri,'' where a benevolent florist girl, Lakshmi, resides with her disabled father, Rangaiah. Chandram is the son of an industrialist who died of bankruptcy. Realizing this, Chandram's friend Raghu entrusts his wife Susheela, and son Anand to him before breathing his last. ''Paradesi'' () is a 1998 Indian Telugu-language romantic drama film directed by K. Raghavendra Rao and produced by him under the banner Sri Raghavendra Movie Corporation, in collaboration with C. Aswini Dutt and Allu Aravind. The film is notable for its talent search campaign, which invited aspiring actors through Gemini TV and featured new faces Viswa, Madhav, Tanuja, and California-based model Monnette in the lead roles. ''Paradeshi'' () is a 2007 Indian Malayalam-language drama film written and directed by P. T. Kunju Muhammed. It was produced by Antony Perumbavoor under the company Aashirvad Cinemas. Mohanlal plays Valiyakaththu Moosa, in three stages of his life, between the ages of 35 and 80. It also features Swetha Menon, Lakshmi Gopalaswamy, Padmapriya Janakiraman, Jagathy Sreekumar, and Siddique in significant roles. ''Paradesi'' () is a 2013 Indian Tamil-language historical drama film written, produced and directed by Bala. The film starrs Atharvaa, Vedhika, and Dhansika, with Jerry and Riythvika in supporting roles. It is based on ''Eriyum Panikadu'', a Tamil translation of the 1969 English novel '' Red Tea'' by Paul Harris Daniel. Set during the British Raj, the film revolves around an unemployed villager who is misled into bonded labour at a tea plantation after being promised generous accommodation and wages by a Kangani, who tyranically rules it. Paradesi Jews
Paradesi Jews refer to Jewish immigrants to the Indian subcontinent during the 15th and 16th centuries following the expulsion of Jews from Spain and Portugal. ''Paradesi'' means ''foreign'' in Malayalam and Tamil language, Tamil. These Sephardic immigrants fled persecution and death by burning in the wake of the 1492 Alhambra Decree and Manuel I of Portugal, King Manuel's 1496 decree expelling Jews from Portugal. They are sometimes referred to as "White Jews", although that usage is generally considered pejorative or discriminatory and refers to relatively recent Jewish immigrants (end of the 15th century onward), predominantly Sephardim. During the 18th and 19th centuries, Paradesi Jews were Sephardi immigrants to the Indian subcontinent from Arab and Muslim countries fleeing forcible conversion, persecution, and antisemitism.
