Para Ice Hockey At The 2022 Winter Paralympics
The sledge hockey, Para ice hockey competition of the 2022 Winter Paralympics was held at the Beijing National Indoor Stadium, China, from 5 to 13 March 2022. A total of seven teams competed in the mixed team tournament. Yu Jing (sledge hockey), Yu Jing from China has become the third female Para ice hockey player at the Paralympic Games, preceded by Britt Mjaasund Øyen and Lena Schrøder from Norway who previously competed in para ice hockey at the Winter Paralympics. Beijing National Indoor Stadium
The National Indoor Stadium (), a.k.a. ''Folding Fan'' (折扇), is an arena located at Olympic Green in Chaoyang, Beijing, China. The stadium has a capacity of 20,000 people, and was constructed for the 2008 Summer Olympics. It is nicknamed ''the Fan'' (扇子, ''shànzi'') due to its design resembling a traditional Chinese folding fan. History Glöckner³ designed the indoor stadium, in collaboration with the Beijing Institute of Architectural Design (BIAD), after winning an international architectural competition in October 2003. Billy Bridges
Billy Bridges (born 22 March 1984) is a Canadian ice sledge hockey and wheelchair basketball player. Born in Summerside, he has spina bifida. On July 1, 2011, Bridges married former Olympic women's ice hockey player Sami Jo Small. He competed at the 2022 Winter Paralympics, in Para ice hockey winning a silver medal. Life He began playing ice sledge hockey in 1997, aged 12, for the Kitchener Sidewinders. Aged 14, he was selected for Canada's national team, the youngest player ever to be picked.
