A total of eight teams competed in the mixed team tournament. Lena Schrøder from Norway has become the second female Para ice hockey player at the Paralympic Games after Britt Mjaasund Øyen. Gangneung Hockey Centre
Gangneung Hockey Centre () is an indoor arena located in the coastal city of Gangneung, South Korea. The arena was one of the two venues for the ice hockey events at the 2018 Winter Olympics, serving as the main venue for the men's tournament and medal matches. It also hosted the ice sledge hockey competition during the 2018 Winter Paralympics. The cost of construction for the venue was estimated to be 108 billion South Korean won, won (about $90 million US). Construction started in July 2014 and was completed in March 2017. Korea Ice Hockey Association president Chung Mong-won stated a desire for the Gangneung Hockey Centre to become the focus of ice hockey in Korea, and to leave an Olympic Games legacy. He said, "My dream is to turn Gangneung into a hockey town. I hope to see the day when people think of Gangneung, they'll think of hockey". Billy Bridges
Billy Bridges (born 22 March 1984) is a Canadian ice sledge hockey and wheelchair basketball player. Born in Summerside, he has spina bifida. On July 1, 2011, Bridges married former Olympic women's ice hockey player Sami Jo Small. He competed at the 2022 Winter Paralympics, in Para ice hockey winning a silver medal. Life He began playing ice sledge hockey in 1997, aged 12, for the Kitchener Sidewinders. Aged 14, he was selected for Canada's national team, the youngest player ever to be picked. Bradley Bowden (born May 26, 1983) is a Canadian ice sledge hockey and wheelchair basketball player. Life Born in Mississauga, Ontario, Bowden lives with sacral agenesis. He began playing ice sledge hockey in 1997, aged 13, for the Kitchener Sidewinders. At the age of 15, he was selected for Canada's national team. In 2003, he was named to the men's national wheelchair basketball team which eventually won gold in the 2004 summer Paralympic games in Athens, Greece. Stephen Arsenault (born September 6, 1988) is a Canadian ice sledge hockey player. Arsenault was born in Hamilton, Ontario to Joe and Jill Arsenault. He has avascular necrosis of the femoral head. He began his sledge hockey career in 2004 in Edmonton with the Paralympic Sports Association Dogs. He also played for the Edmonton Impact sledge hockey team. He took a hiatus from sledge hockey from 2007 to 2010, a timespan in which his mother died and his father was seriously injured in a workplace accident which resulted in amputation of a leg.
